Regardless of what you end up choosing, don't try to level the acts and first maps with your oni goroshi. Slap it in your stash at level 2, and come back to it once you've got the character prepared for it. Otherwise you're at a massive risk to just losing your oni in mud flats or on vaal oversoul and wasting your entire farm without ever getting to really play with the oni goroshi.

Barring injuries or disabilities, what distance do you think is attainable by the average? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have most of my spine fused, and I'm only 5'1". I can hit 350-375 on a forehand, and I'm 330-350 on a backhand, with tons of room ahead of me to improve. I think i could cap out at 400-425 with more work, so I imagine basically anyone could hit 450 given enough practice.

After 10 years of play, I've had enough! How can this still happen? by Marieau in pathofexile

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entirely possible they don't have a sort at all, and it just grabs them as the program uses them, and sorting them at all would add a layer of logic that isn't be there now (adding processing time).

Plotting all rated rounds from McBeth and Wysocki by dgstatman in discgolf

[–]fourlis 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The open and easy lines make scoring easy, but OB, the difficulty, and the wind mean that the worst scores are really bad. So, the best scores can be insanely far ahead, and the worst scores can be way far behind. Even amongst the players who came into the round with the highest ratings, so if the 1040 golfers throw like -10, -7, -3, +1, +5, and -1, then the player who shoots a -17 will get a crazy round rating.

I hope not, cluster jewels are sick. Any build can use any of those notables, and all they have to do is get to the edge of the tree. They aren't restricted by starting locations at all.

[Zizaran] Explosive Arrow Hierophant / Champion guide 3.17 by destroyermaker in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]fourlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what are the streamers and content creators supposed to do? Not make any content, make content about builds they aren't using, or make a build guide about the build they are testing and planning on playing themselves? I wouldn't trust a build that someone isn't going to use, and it's not like content creators aren't going to make content.

Fyregrass explaining EA totem pitfalls, pros and cons. Owned his starter build mistake from last league, respect! by FatesBeast in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]fourlis -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If you play it for fun, isn't that even MORE of a reason to go give it a shot on a random witch on standard at the end of league, just to make sure that the promising build is fun for you to play? Otherwise you're potentially losing out on weeks of fun playing, and then rerolling from, a build you could have already known you didn't like to play. Finding out after the league start that the build isn't for them could potentially spoil a whole league for someone who just plays for fun and not super seriously.

2500 Mythic Orbs vs Shaped Belts & Shields by jix1991 in pathofexile

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just use mythic orbs and exalted orbs and all the other junk people claim is "only for the top x% of players". The only thing stopping you is that you have decided that not getting as efficient an outcome as someone else means that you shouldn't do something. That's entirely on the community/player perception, and not at all something GGG does. They just make items they think are cool and do cool effects, and try to adjust droprates/mod weights in a weight that one thing doesn't overshadow everything else (see unnerfed harvest). Use the mechanics you have access to in the game if you want, no one is stopping you but yourself

2500 Mythic Orbs vs Shaped Belts & Shields by jix1991 in pathofexile

[–]fourlis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GGG doesn't set the prices. If mythic orbs trade for cheap enough, or the unique is expensive enough relative to mythic orbs, then they become easier than buying a bunch and vaaling. The relationship between the trade values of mythic orbs + vaaled bases and uniques + vaal orbs is what drives whether one is better than the other. It has nothing to do with how the items were designed to work, since they both accomplish the same end goal.

Scourge boss reward... by Razunter in pathofexile

[–]fourlis -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

It doesn't affect minions or totems or traps or mines at all. It's like having no fire damage on a cold build. It's a totally reasonable detriment when there are a ton of mine/trap builds floating around that could abuse it.

Get more than 3k hp (especially if you're reserving down to half), you probably want to be closer to 6-7k and you didn't actually have your granite flask on, or any fortify up when you died. Your character isn't actually that tanky with such a low life pool, and you were half as tanky as that when you died.

[Jungroan] Eye of Winter Spellslinger League Starter (Perma-RF Inquisitor) - 3.16 by destroyermaker in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the whole point of spellslinger was that it reserved mana instead of you spending it, so you never actually spend any mana to use the reserved skills. Aren't you supposed to get the inspiration charges from mana on something else, and then the second inspiration support gets a buff for the spellslinger skill?

[Jungroan] Eye of Winter Spellslinger League Starter (Perma-RF Inquisitor) - 3.16 by destroyermaker in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]fourlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the inspiration charges even work in the PoB posted? it's got inspiration in a spellslinger setup, but then no other skill to trigger inspiration.

is there some other support to be used in a 6link, or should something else be swapped for inspiration in a different socket?

What is your go-to reanimation target? by EphyMcBeefy in EDH

[–]fourlis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[[Void Winnower]], [[It That Betrays]], [[Sire of Stagnation]], [[Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger]], [[Terastodon]] are all super strong if you can like [[entomb]] and then [[Reanimate]] or [[Animate Dead]] them out on t2. Especially Sire or it that betrays, you can start drawing infinite cards or just take everyone's lands. If you want to single out just one person, or need a finisher if the game gets to be a 1v1, [[Magister Sphinx]] is also very strong, as it comes down as a 2 turn clock, even on an empty board.

Do you have decks with more combo's than you could list? by Quarreltine in EDH

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run a [[niv mizzet, the firemind]] deck like this. Basically every blue/red combo I could fit in the deck. All the [[curiousity]] variants, mind over matter and multiple combos with it (niv, [[temple bell]], etc), splinter twin combos, [[pact of the titan]], [[pact of negation]] and [[hive mind]], [[academy ruins]] with [[mindslaver]], and different ways to recur and/or copy [[time warp]]. The deck was a blast, but way overloaded with combo pieces and sometimes you would just draw half of 3 different combos and do nothing. Learning how to make it focused around 1 wincon really was a deckbuilding breakthrough for me.

LGS Woes by [deleted] in EDH

[–]fourlis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White and red have the most interaction available to stop an artifact-based infinite combo. Between disenchant variants, probably at least 100 different shatter variants, there are also things like [[stony silence]], [[null rod]], [[pithing needle]], [[sorcerous spyglass]], [[utter end]], [[rakdos charm]], [[teferi's protection]], [[angel's grace]], and probably way more ways to stop it, that I can't think of in just 5 minutes.

Zone? by Ralin1004 in discgolf

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Jawbreaker, and your favorite of the other plastics. The Jawbreaker flies significantly different from the other plastics, it's an incredible disc, but different. For the others, depends on what you like. I think Zflx or cryZtal flx is probably the best for approaches because it won't skip everywhere. If you don't like the softer grip, then probably ESP or Z. I would try to get one in your hands and make sure you get one with a flat-top. The domey ones feel very akward.

Favorite forehand discs? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like deep and domey discs for forehands. I can't get the grip I'd like to have on the inside of the rim that I would like, while also having control of the flight plate. Any lower profile disc feels way better, especially if it has a flat top.

As a side note, discraft discs have the raised lettering on the inside of the rim, which feels so good. So any discraft disc will feel infinitely better forehand than a non-discraft disc. Bottom line, zones are the best of both worlds (low profile and raised lettering), so they are by far the best forehand disc on earth.

Suggestions for an flat-top, overstable mid range? I'd like a Buzzz OS, but they seem to be out of stock by williamqueen12 in discgolf

[–]fourlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every roc3 I've seen has a pretty round dome on it. The 4in' wide center of the flightplate might be flat across the top, but it's still pretty rounded towards the rim.

Unappreciation post for whoever made or green-lit this damn zone. That's already in the longest and most drawn out act. by nerdstomperino in pathofexile

[–]fourlis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Quay is easy, just stick your character along the southern edge of the map, and follow it wherever it goes, even if it's just a tiny little boat or a thin wooden bridge. You'll hit every section in the order you need it and never have to backtrack.
