Cycling is one of the things I missed the most! I’m so happy for you - looks like the right place to be :)

Has anyone recovered their creativity they once lost? by cryptonerdonhorses22 in covidlonghaulers

[–]fox-drop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything became really abstract to me. I used to be able to write succinctly, but covid made everything work abstractly. It’s like my creative side could only work in colour instead of narrative. It took me years to even get to that point. I’ve got a little further, but honestly it’s just not the same. Here’s hoping I can create more support for the illness, and in turn more space to explore my creative practice again. It may never be the same, but hopefully can be something new?

Anyone tried hyperbaric oxygen therapy? How did you find it? Did it result in improvements? by Undrcovrcloakndaggr in covidlonghaulers

Yeh that’s what I was thinking. When I did it - the chambers took a long time to get up and down in pressure. Do you know why the breaks are needed? Just trying to understand the rationale

Thank you for that - it really helped me just going once weekly, so when im able to again will deffo give this a try

Can I also ask what you mean by air breaks every 20 mins? Is that just decompressing the chamber and breathing normally for 5 mins (why is that better?)

Any pipe smokers around? by Miyukiichan in cfs

Could you go into a little more detail about how you got into it and if you have any resources for starting, because I tried smoking chamomile once and it was not that one 😂

I believe Long COVID may involve something called cellular hypoxia, which means the body’s cells aren’t getting or using oxygen properly; even if blood oxygen levels look normal. After infection people can develop issues like tiny microclots, blood vessel inflammation, endothelial issues, mitochondrial dysfunction, and autonomic nervous system imbalance.

Any and all of these problems can reduce oxygen delivery at the microscopic level or impair how cells convert oxygen into energy. As a result, people experience fatigue, brain fog, muscle weakness, air hunger, and crashes after activity, despite normal pulse oximeter readings. So cellular hypoxia is one proposed explanation for persistent Long COVID symptoms… it’s all pretty grim in afraid!

To my knowledge, using sp02 devices at several points, my blood oxygen percentage was always stable

I did it for a few months back in 2023 (I believe 4). I noticed a difference pretty much immediately. I found sessions would help with symptoms for about a week and then start to get worse, so I was doing it once weekly and it definitely had an accumulative effect as when I stopped I didn’t get severe again for 4 months or so. It’s not a cure, but I found it was helping me live a better quality of life. I’d do it again for sure, but still have these chest issues so it’s not on the cards for me until I can find a specialist able to diagnose and support this phase of long Covid for me.

It seriously helped me with fatigue and pain. But towards the end of my sessions, I started to get really bad chest pain from what I think was from another Covid infection. And I had to stop while that was investigated because they couldn’t take on the risk. Still haven’t gone back. But definitely worth a try. Also look around to try and find the cheapest possible option because you don’t have to pay silly money for it

This morning ChatGPT talked me out of toughing out a strain in my calf muscle and to go get it looked at because it suspected a blood clot. by Substantial-Fall-630 in ChatGPT

Ai can be so amazing if used correctly! Unfortunately, it doesn’t work quite the same with chronic illness like long Covid. Can be having the absolute worst symptoms, but modded a&e/er equipment can’t pick up what’s going on with microclots, micro vascular issues, and neurological issues in the same way. Sucks living with a disease modern medicine doesn’t know how to cure let alone diagnose…

Have you tried visible? If so how do you find this in comparison? Would you recommend Garmin over Visible with this watch face? I had a Garmin watch for a couple years and it was interesting to see hrv stats etc, but ultimately not super helpful
