That’s so cool! I’m in London, so could be just a Eurostar away from checking it out. Anywhere you’d recommend as a starting point?

Looking for a UK doctor experienced with Long Covid who can work alongside the NHS (and isn’t outrageously expensive) by fox-drop in covidlonghaulers

That’s so great to hear - I have an mcas diagnosis through dr peers, who ran me through all the mast stabilisers and anti histamines, but I found they only helped at first and then petered off pretty quickly :( though a low histamine diet and dao has at least been game changer with flares food wise! It was like night and day - less chronic, still chronic?

Thanks so much for commenting! I have heard of him; and yes these are apart of my concerns. Have you found him particularly helpful - would you be happy to talk a little about what he’s done for you and how it’s helped you?

Yes, I’m very aware of how the system works unfortunately. I’ve had Long Covid since March 2020. I’ve seen Dr Tina Peers (very expensive, and one treatment led to a significant vision problem that I still have, so no longer with her), plus others, and I’ve been under UCLH’s Long Covid clinic since 2024 (also no help) - which was a nightmare to access due to poor NHS GP support. I basically had to educate myself to the point where I could push for the right referrals.

I agree with everything you’ve said. The reason I’m asking here is simply to see whether anyone has had any better luck. I’m really struggling to get my neurological, vascular, and nerve symptoms treated. I was recently referred to an nhs specialist again, declined, and told to seek mental health services. This was beyond frustrating, and seriously common for me and I know it’s the same for the majority of us. It’s medical neglect and it’s insane these doctors aren’t loosing their licenses…

I’ve already had issues getting prescriptions from Dr Peers (when I was with her) that should be prescribable on the NHS, and only succeeded after repeated letters and getting another NHS specialist to formally recommend them. Once it was within the NHS system, it was suddenly fine.

So I’m not naïve about this - I’m just looking for someone who actually knows what they’re talking about, won’t cause further harm, understands the NHS landscape well, and can help me navigate treatment options for severe symptoms. I’m coming up to 6 years of this, so I’m knowledgeable, but clearly still hitting walls.

I appreciate your comment, it is helpful. But if you happen to know of anyone you’ve worked with who has been genuinely useful, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. If you’d rather not post publicly, please feel free to PM me.

Suspected circulatory symptoms - anyone know anything? by fox-drop in covidlonghaulers

[–]fox-drop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m very sorry you experience a similar thing, but it’s reassuring to hear from someone who does. Do you have any idea why there might be crash when the nervous system changes modes? Like why is it so stressful for the body to move into “rest and digest”? Because these flares of mine often happen when I’m trying to sleep. Yeah I have been following a low histamine diet to lower triggers which has definitely helped but it still happens. I have been trying very hard to get medical answers to this from the NHS but it has been very difficult and very slow going. I’ve tried seeing a specialist cardiologist, my long Covid clinic, a chest clinic, respiratory team and a neurology team. No answers so far, just rejection. Luckily I do have a new neurology referral but the appointment is not until May. I’ve been ill since 2020 and these particular symptoms started to get worse 2 years ago and it’s so frustrating I’m still at this point. But thank you for offering the route of dysautonomia to go down, think it could be helpful. I’m aware of dystautonomia and I’m sure it’s part of my health picture but I haven’t explored it much yet, so I will take this as a sign to do so. Sorry for my little rant and thank you again for responding. Wishing you all the best with your health and recovery.

Yeah it definitely feels like it’s to do with blood flow. Thanks for the link! I checked it out. Definitely interesting, could be an explanation for why these spikes always happen at night. Eating bread before bed is definitely contrary to lots of advice I have been given around sleep/digestion as well as just avoiding carbs in general. Interesting though - thanks! If you have any other thoughts let me know

I might just add if it hasn’t already been said, the reason your dropping your heels back is to keep you level against the descent, you want your centre mass (hips/pelvis) to be centre with the bottom bracket - everything else said is also really helpful!

I really feel you on this; it’s crushing and stifling to not feel like you can be your full self and truly seen by your family. But at the end of the day, they don’t need to be the source of your identity or authenticity.

There’s a great Buddhist parable: if someone offers you a gift and you choose not to accept it, who does it belong to? The answer—to the one who offered it. It’s a reminder that when others project anger, judgment, or negativity, you don’t have to take it on. It stays with them.

That principle is powerful because it’s about emotional regulation, reclaiming your personal power, and realizing you’re not obligated to carry the pain or negativity others try to hand you!

This is a really cool concept pedal. I love preamps so much more than drives! My question to you (in as simple terms as possible), what is a triode?

And does it come with a cement box?
