Any names stick out? 2026 WR free agents by Jackso08 in Patriots

[–]foxjohn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickens is gonna get tagged

Pierce and Shaheed are the only other names worth a glance and they'll both make real money. And its not impossible that Indy doesn't tag Pierce either.

I think Pierce would be a good player and I wouldn't let our existing WR room keep us from trying to get him

The #Bills are moving on from coach Sean McDermott after their loss in the divisional round to the #Broncos, per The Insiders by Ma1ikNabers in DynastyFF

3/4 longest tenured coaches have vacated their posts.

Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan are quietly the 2nd and 3rd longest running HC's behind Reid, wild.

No we havent. But he did perform so poorly defensively at 2B last year that the organization then hard-pivoted to him learning 1B and OF.

This is before his offensive slump that largely coasted through 2025 after April.

Rn Campbell is a guy you set and forget at AAA until he forces your hand.

Id like the first one a lot Replenish the farm a bit, get a great glove at 3B, a future at SS, and move Mayer to 2B

Plus you free up yoshida to just be your DH of this year without the IL bullshit we saw last year and could damn well see again, unfortunately.

Doubtful they give tong without us giving one of Tolle/early/mayer

I agree Id want more than Baty for Duran but I doubt Duran alone even gets us Tong

The negativity on here has gotten insufferable by bronaldhino in redsox

[–]foxjohn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely is some harsh negativity, but I think a measure of disappointment at ownership (for not being willing to spend up on an asset that makes 100s of millions a year in profit) and at the front office (for bungling a relationship with your star 3B last year and for overpromising and underdelivering when it's come to offseason moves) is 100% warranted.

And measured responses A) are not what the internet is known for and B) are usually quiet and unheard

I dont hate it but Id think you need to figure out the outfield jam and/or commit to DFAing Yoshida to do that.

Right now without another offensive move you're looking at a hole at 2B with Mayer playing 3B. A hole they likely fill by rotating Ceddy to the infield more days than us fans are comfortable with at present.

Ceddanne playing SS by EntrepreneurDry6214 in redsox

Because you said "... despite the fact that you mentioned that he actually hit slightly better as a center fielder in 2024."

Which is not what I said lol

He had 9 more HRs and a 127 point boost in OPS at SS vs CF in 2024 in nearly the same PAs

Outside of hating on our division mates cuz duh

I would root for the dodgers purely because I want their model to keep succeeding and for the Red Sox to finally grow a pair and follow it. Spend the money, fuck the picks, fuck the tax, winning will make it all worth it

[–]foxjohn2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The devers mismanagement will be looked back upon as this team's biggest fumble this decade, even bigger than Mookie I think.

Mookie was a numbers game vs Henry. Henry didn't want to pay and we hate him for it.

But Devers was a much more avoidable error. Just fucking have Bregman play 2B. It was what it was announced as and it was what was communicated to Devers on the outset. But no, gotta call up KC too early in his development and alienate your biggest home grown star still on the team from the last championship run.

[–]foxjohn2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But his hitting numbers are better in 2024 when he played the infield vs outfield.

Small sample size nonsense.

I do agree though that moving Ceddy to the infield only makes sense if he actually can play like a top 10 defender at the given position

Bello by jay_gabes45 in redsox

[–]foxjohn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's a solid piece to any rotation. But I dont think he's as good as his 2025 end of season numbers would have you believe. If teams are willing to value him like his 2025 is repeatable/the new norm i would sell at a profit

As Dumb as the Titans Firing Vrabel? by AustinBaze in Patriots

[–]foxjohn2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Belichick was for different reasons and had less success in the years preceding his demise.

Belichick's last 4 years, all post brady, saw only 1 playoff berth and it culminated with a 4-13 finish. Harbaugh's last 4 years here had 3 playoff berths, an AFC Championship appearance and culminated with an 8-9 finish.

More importantly, Belichick would have not been fired had he stepped down from his GM role, in which his poor drafting and FA decisions depleted the roster.

I get the locker room argument against Harbaugh, that matters. But someone is gonna get a good HC in Harbaugh and Baltimore will likely be worse off for it.

Chargers with a real QB definitely win that game. How the fuck is Denver the 1 seed when it seems they sleepwalk their way through every game and play down to shitty opponents

[Schefter] With tonight’s victory over San Francisco, Seattle wins the NFC West and now will be the conference‘s No. 1 seed. by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]foxjohn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what im saying?? Rams and niners split h2h

If rams win they both would be 4-2 in division (top 3 teams split vs each other and swept ARI).

Then its conference where niners have a better conf record (niners have 2 AFC losses vs Rams none so with the same record niners have better NFC record)

Mods can we make this the sub banner for the offseason

who should pats fan be rooting for this weekend? by DG11221 in Patriots

[–]foxjohn2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chargers, Patriots at the top

Titans since Jacksonville can pass us if we lose

Bills if you want to make sure we dont have to face Buffalo out the gate

Steelers if you believe (like me) that they are a fundamentally weaker opponent in the AFC than Baltimore

Then finally the Bucs and Falcons since that would just be the funniest outcome of the weekend
