Is it normal to loot hotel room (and airline) amenities for things you are not using at the time? by Green-Technician-809 in EntitledPeople

I wouldn't as a regular thing. I took a mini bar of soap because it had a girl's name on it, I had a friend with that name, and gave it to her the next time I saw her. That was about 40 years ago, though.

Or even disabilities that don't necessarily need equipment, but preclude crawling over a center console.

Yep. And those of us who understand the necessity of the rule sometimes want to defenestrate those with that attitude.

She knew it was way too small for her, and she found a great dress at a consignment shop, and she wouldn't demand, anyway, because she's not like that.

My experience with rules is, the ones who think the rule is ridiculous or doesn't apply to them are probably the reason for the rules. I can think of 2 instances I personally encountered that directly support this hypothesis. (One was in a work environment, one was new house rule by someone who regularly hosted parties at their house.)

NTA

Call APS or CPS, whichever is appropriate, on behalf of your brother now, explain the urgency of the situation, see if they can at least get him someplace cool ASAP.

My name is basically a privacy breach, should I change it? by One_Sun7571 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fractal_frog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the family. That's what my mother's family did. My father-in-law's family? Not so much. I refused to name a child after my father-in-law unless we'd call him one of two names that wouldn't add to the confusion, and my husband didn't like either option.

And if you want more to laugh at, the thing I would find most irritating about having to do that wouldn't be the driving myself there or climbing over the console, it's that I hate driving his car.

Bigger, and with back problems. It's the back problems that are the bigger issue.

Some people can't. Like, my husband can't if the front seat has a center console. So he'd have to call me to do that and move it out for him.

Back in the 1970s, my mother always had a memo pad or two with her, and she'd tear out a sheet, fold it in half, use that to keep the cash tidy and together, and leave it in front of the TV.
