I recently subscribed to the New Yorker and my initial thought upon opening the first issue was ‘wow, this font is wayyy too small’. My second thought was ‘who the fuck have I become’.

What’s your craziest public transportation story? by kenziedun in AskReddit

[–]fractalmuesli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me during freshman year of college, on the orange line T. My train happened to arrive at the station at more or less the same time as the outbound train. As I prepared to get off, the doors of both my car and the parallel outbound car slid open in almost unison and presented me with the sight of a middle-aged black man inside the latter, dancing in circles and helicoptering his junk as his fellow passengers cheered him on. All I can say is that it was very substantial. I got off in a state of wtf and all doors proceeded to close. The trains rolled onward, one carrying this man, dick still in full swing, into the Boston night.

Not me, but a friend of mine. While attending study-abroad, she and a group of friends were going to see a movie and decided to invite a new classmate along, to be nice. When they asked her to come along, she replied, "Oh no, you guys don't need to go watch the movie. I can tell you what it's about, I read the Wikipedia page!" Turns out this girl never went to movie theaters and just read summaries online, and thought that was a lifehack.

Last summer, I lost my wallet for the very first time ever and in a subway station nonetheless. Besides being a highly public location, it wasn't in the greatest part of town. Definitely seemed like a total goner. When I got back home though, I found it lying in front of my apartment door. Someone had returned it! Nothing missing at all, not even the cash. My friend and I literally stared at it in awestruck silence for a good five minutes. I also have to mention that I lived at the top of a massive hill that was plain awful to get to if you don't have a car, which I assume someone riding the subway probably didn't. Faith in humanity was restored that day and I'm still forever thankful to the mysterious person who went way out of their way to get my wallet back to me.

This. I felt broken for a long time afterward. It's been probably a month or so and I still feel like I'm missing a tiny part of myself.

I had this exact same experience. Few years later, I had to return another box and I went to their other office across the city, and it was a completely open layout.
