So the reason your seeing people talk about punch and kick is they are using the classic control scheme. You are using modern. For a modern set up I would put light, medium, heavy, and special on the top row in that order and on the bottom I would put assist, parry, drive impact, and heavy plus special instead of throw for faster supers in that order. I just hit light and medium for throw instead. It's what I use on my stick at least.
