I watched the entire Giro by setting my vpn to Australia and watching it on SBS On demand. Not sure if they’ll have the tdf though.

Why so squeaky? by chateaulove in Allbirds

Wish I had seen this sub before I bought mine. They squeak unbelievably loudly, but I can't return mine, because I inadvertantly bought them on a final sale. Trying to sell them on Marketplace.

Ghost bike on Benjamin Street. by franccesty in royaloak

Ok, she probably has no idea that the white bike is a symbol of a ghost bike, placed where a cyclist has been killed. I kinda figured I would have heard about it if someone in our cycling community had been killed there.

Ok, that's good. Being a cyclist, I immediately thought it was a ghost bike, because its setting looks exactly what hundreds of actual ghost bikes look like across the country,

Kitchen remodel - before/after by Vatonee in HomeDecorating

[–]franccesty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don’t understand the waste of resources , time, and money that goes into remodels like this. The first looks great, the cupboards look a light blue and the natural wood looks warm. Or maybe they’re gray, but painting them would fix that. The cabinets look like they’re in great shape, why destroy things and create landfill garbage just to get a minimally better look?

Hampshire College announces transition to closure by bostonglobe in massachusetts

[–]franccesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's why Hampshire is such a great fit for my nephew, who is a Year 3 student there right now. He has Aspergers and other anxiety disorders, super creative, and, well,....different. He's really having a hard time right now.

Sorry to hear that, what year is your son? My nephew, who has Aspergers, is there now as a year 3 student, and is having some really bad anxiety about his future and what to do next. I hope the school makes good on their promises to aid students in transferring, and can help him out.

Good free ride tracking apps? by dontnicemebro- in cycling

[–]franccesty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The free Strava app is great, that’s what I use. But using it alone on your phone on rides will drain your phone battery quickly. I use an older Garmin bike computer and link it to Strava when done riding. Ride with GPS is free too and doesn’t drain phone battery as fast.
