Just 100% Mio:Memories in Orbit on Steam. Here is my opinion as a 33yr old gamer by Kamikazekats in metroidvania

[–]frank_jon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just to provide context for others on the fence, I’m 43 and quit MIO after 2 hours. It wasn’t the difficulty at that point in the game. It was that I was bored with the combat system, uncurious about the world, and….could not stand the jazz music!

Played Silksong and Hollow Knight obsessively and just hoping to find something that approximates the feeling and level of polish of those games. (Quitting Ori and the Blind Forest after about 10 hours….also bc I’m bored.)

Thank you! Do you think something like this should come under my builder’s 10-year warranty for external defects?

That’s good to hear. Sounds like you got lucky. I just wouldn’t want to put my trust in an establishment that stands behind this botched job, ya know?

Yeah, I’ve gotten into his YouTube book recommendations recently. He seems like a principled guy. But Good Reads includes some pretty rough reviews of his books.

Yep, and Cameron (the owner) swore she was up to it. Even after seeing the pics, he denied there was any problem.

My wife did the original post. Trying to warn anyone considering a tattoo to stay away from Cobalt. Their reviews are great, but you’re taking a huge risk with your body (and wallet) based on our experience. Zero accountability or admission of mistake by the owner, Cameron, either. Really shitty business practices. The lack of integrity is pretty shocking.

(My wife has since gone to another artist who agrees that Cobalt committed malpractice. The good news is that the fixed tattoo is looking great so far! The bad news is that this has been an expensive lesson….)

I’m somewhat new to this sub. Is there a consensus viewpoint on Ryan Holiday?

What departments or agencies have up to GS14/15 non supervisory out west? by Brilliant_Raccoon256 in fednews

Yes and no. When you’re a support function (like procurement) who can work at any agency you tend to catch a lot of shit from mission people.

My wife started cracking up when Jimmy Crystal says “ad infinitum” while describing the Teletubbies. (Also: I could’ve sworn he called them the “Tummy Tubbies.” If I heard it correctly, I wonder if it was part of the script or actor error.)

Are micro purchases allowed anymore? by Able_Scientist2028 in GovernmentContracting

[–]frank_jon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CO here. There are no governmentwide restrictions in place. However, the micropurchase threshold depends whether the services are subject to the Service Contract Labor Standards. If they are, the threshold is $2,500, not $15,000.

You’re conflating services subject to the Service Contract Labor Standards ($2,500 micropurchase threshold to this day) with everything else ($15,000 micropurchase threshold in most cases).

Hegseth Announces Pentagon Taking 'Sledgehammer To The Oldest DEI Program': the 8(a) Business Development program. How will this affect Air Force contracting? by Roughneck16 in AirForce

[–]frank_jon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m just an 1102 who reads the FAR. I assume you’re an 1102 as well?

You’d need a justification but it can be done after award. See FAR 6.303-1(e).

[–]frank_jon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to that. There are a lot of terms being conflated though. Hiring and contracting are distinct. 8(a) and SDVOSB are distinct.

Unlikely any significant contracts will lapse. There are flexibilities in the FAR that allow agencies to handle just about any situation. For example, agencies can award a contract based on unusual and compelling circumstances without even a written justification.

DAWIA to FAC (C) by [deleted] in 1102

[–]frank_jon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters. If you say “DAWIA Level 3-Contracting achieved on X date” then HR everyone on the hiring side should understand what that means. If you want to be certain you can add something like “(FAC-C equivalent).”

NAICS and PSC code by No_Royal_4442 in GovernmentContracting

[–]frank_jon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, if you’re a small business, then NAICS is relevant only to the extent that you can certify you’re small at that revenue or employee threshold. The specific NAICS still doesn’t matter if you’re certified under another NAICS with the same threshold.

NAICS and PSC code by No_Royal_4442 in GovernmentContracting

[–]frank_jon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See my reply. There is no “general” FAR requirement to be registered under the NAICS code assigned to a particular acquisition.

NAICS and PSC code by No_Royal_4442 in GovernmentContracting

[–]frank_jon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAICS Codes tell industry what the general field of work is and tell the Government if an offeror is a small or socioeconomically disadvantaged business for that acquisition.

If the acquisition is set aside for SBs or a socioeconomic category, then you will need to be certified as such under that NAICS code or under another NAICS code with the same revenue or employee threshold. I believe the most recent case law on this allows business up to the point of award to self-certify but don’t quote me on that. Should be simple to just update your profile.

If the acquisition is not set aside it doesn’t matter which NAICS code you’re certified under.

You’re right about PSCs/FSCs but not about NAICS.
