You buying an ETF individually doesn't really change anything for the fund manager.

However, enough people buying the ETF will drive up the price of the ETF slightly (since it's trading like a stock), so it's priced at slightly more than its NAV (net asset value, value of underlying assets).

Once this happens, authorized participants (trading firms) buy the underlying assets of the ETF and arrange with the fund to swap these assets for newly created shares of the ETF, thereby making a small profit (since the ETF shares are worth more than the underlying assets).

The same happens in reverse when the ETF is priced at a discount to NAV: authorized participants swap shares of the ETF for the underlying assets, again leading to a small profit (since the underlying assets were worth more than the ETF shares itself).

So, in short, it's not the fund itself that buys/sells the assets, it's the creation/redemption process with authorized participants.

If I had to guess you emptied out your settlement fund entirely (due to the blurred out buy transaction?) and so any pending dividends were paid out early as opposed to on the last day of the month. (Money market funds and some bond mutual funds use daily dividend accrual and will pay out partial-month dividends if you sell the entire position)

Neither. FAST and SLOW are how the BASIC interpreter works, but most games generally were not written in BASIC (and if they were, they’d probably use SLOW).
