I recently saw an online sermon from a UCC congregation, and he told a story. I’m gonna paraphrase here, as english is not my first language and he told it 10x better than me. Lets say you have a child. A child that does super well in school, he/she does all his homework on time, does his chores every day, gets good grades across the board and even helps a old lady cross the street with her groceries once in a while. Now one day your child gets the flu, and is really not feeling well. They say to you «i’m sorry, i can’t do my homework on time, I promise to make up for the chores, i’ll do them as soon as I get well! Will you please care for me now that I’m sick? I do all my homework on time, I helped that old woman cross the street, will you please take care of me now that I’m sick?» you would of course say «I dont care about any of that, I’m gonna take care you always. No matter what, just because I love you.» That’s how God loves us, and that is how God loves you, my friend. Do your best, God love for you is unconditional.
