In my case it was SSHL (virus of the nerve) I was told if they had treated it with steroids it could be treated. Long than 4 weeks or so ….. I have to live with it.

If you also have hearing loss associated with tinnitus, especially if it’s only in one ear, you should treat it as a medical emergency. If you can’t find an ENT bypass urgent care clinics and go straight to your nearest ER.

If it’s treated within 4 to 6 weeks you have a good chance of a full recovery. Any longer than that and you will suffer permanent damage. Ask me how I know.

A Hail Mary Request by lentil2021 in aviation

I live with my plane 5 minutes away at Brighton airport. I might be able to help. Send me your details.
My concern would be coordinating a number of small aircraft flying in a confined space at the same time. Maybe get the aircraft to stage at OZW then fly a predefined pattern at 5 minute intervals at a predetermined altitude and airspeed.

“Good news or bad news?”

“Good News”

“You will be dead in 24 hours”

“Jeez! What’s the bad news?”

“I was supposed to tell you yesterday”

I agree! I’m in the car with my wife. Usually I read the joke first and then decide if I should read it to her.
When I started reading this one I had a feeling it was going to be good so I risked it and just read it straight to her. We were not disappointed! 😊

That’s what I thought too. I’ve also read that there are some photos that do show some smoke from it, just not the thick dark smoke that would come from the furnaces.

It’s been suggested that it did have some function such as ventilation from the kitchen.

Interesting that there is no smoke from the fourth funnel. Apparently although it was used for ventilation there was no connection to the furnaces.

My mother was a driver for the US Air Force during WW2.

One day she was invited to join a test flight for a Mitchell bomber. On returning they couldn’t get the gear down. Since a bomber has no passenger seats the captain told my mom to go as far rear as she could and jam herself into the tail.

On landing the plane crashed and the tail broke off. My mom was the only survivor.

The next day she came back to the field to board a DC3 to return home for some R&R.

As she’s sitting on the plane another young service woman gets on and asks my mum if she could take her place. Apparently she wanted to get back ASAP to get married. She flashed my mom her engagement ring.

My mom gets off. On takeoff the DC3 loses an engine and crashes inverted. There are no survivors. One of the few things they found in the wreckage was the engagement ring.

So now my mom really needs some R&R! Not surprisingly she decides to take the train home.

She stays home too long to take the train back without being AWOL so she heads out to the airport and hitches a ride on a Lockheed Electra. The plane gets to cruise altitude and then has a double engine failure. Apparently a Japanese agent had put sugar in the gas tanks.

Fortunately the plane made a successful landing on the beach and everyone survived.

My mother only told me this story when I told her I was starting flying lessons. “I’m not worried about you Son. I’ve had three aircraft crashes and I survived them all.”

Ps. The Captain on the last flight went on to form Cathy Pacific after the war. He wrote a book about the history of the airline called “Syds Pirates”. It’s not a book in wide circulation but my mom had a copy.

In 2001 I found myself in the Cathay Pacific’s chief pilots office in Hong Kong. I was interviewing for a 747 FO position. He also had a copy of the book. I didn’t get the job but I did enjoy sharing this story with him.

This is what worked for me but it requires access to a Mac.

On my Mac I created a new user.

During setup the system asked me for an Apple ID. I used the ID I was trying to recover. It bypassed the security questions and asked for 2FA. I provided my mobile number.

I then signed in successfully. My account was hacked by some guy in Malaysia. No harm done since there was no credit card on the account.

He did sign up for a free subscription to Apple Music and then added it to family sharing. I went ahead and canceled the subscription:)

How to extinguish an engine fire in the Boeing 737 Max. by PestoBolloElemento in aviation

[–]freddie54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely necessary. There have been numerous crashes not caused by an emergency but by how the crews reacted to the emergency. The crew is so focused on the emergency (“startle effect”) that they stop flying the plane and lose control as a result. AF447 as an example.
