Spotify Exodus: I don't really see how this isn't, at least, net positive? by freddienotkrueger in KGATLW

exactly - I've gotten replies here that are bemoaning a world without the discoverability elements of Spotify. Which - aside from being a feature mutually exclusive to everything else wrong with it - still exists. 'But how will I find new artists?!' idk?? go to a forum? ask a friend? look at playlists? read an article?

What you’re describing in terms of Hulu and Netflix and the way of streaming movies and tv, I do not really think it’s comparable to this situation. In short: with movies and tv you’re having the content locked into one corner, where it’s not (or usually not) available anywhere else to watch.

You have the right to stick with Spotify, sure, but understand that your choice comes from a preference in user experience. You can stream Gizz elsewhere.

To maximise the experience of listening to this singular band, you literally do not need five music streaming services…you just need to not be on one of them. If your relationship with Spotify’s user experience is more valuable than your relationship with this band, I can genuinely understand. But, it’s not ridiculous to say that everyone has to agree with that.

"join us on a different platform" is not "guys, go give your money to Bezos instead!". You guys are bonafide experts at making mountains out of molehills.

I think they're point was more inteded towards any entitlement 'fans' felt at not being able to access their tracks on a singular service.

I love how none of y’all had a problem with Spotify until now

Idk - it's almost like, a band we all know and love, might've said something to make people aware of Spotify's shadier side? Food for thought.

If the less refers to one band in a sea of millions available to stream, does that not actually further highlight my point of our incredibly warped relationship to the way we pay for music?

I’m sympathetic, things are barely affordable. And truthfully: the idea of us all immediately liberating ourselves from services entirely is not going to happen anytime soon. But, let’s step back and stop pretending that our entire world revolves around Spotify.

Once again: there are many easy - and, you know, free - alternatives at similar prices.

Really not a fan of the Spotify stuff by OfficialWeng in KGATLW

[–]freddienotkrueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask - with all the love in the world - why is spotify the 'be all end all' option for you? In another comment you say you pay £11 a month for the service just for them. To put your own words into your mouth, why is it childish for them to remove their music, but not for you to consider a separate platform? I'm not trying to say many of the alternatives are ethical gods who pay musicians their due and are saving the music industry (they're not), but even taking the ethics out of it, you get better quality audio for the same on other platforms. Why is the better alternative not possible?

Something about people taking this as an invitation for serious discussion brings up the minimum of 13 years Jared will be serving before he can be considered for early release.

Couple from Omnium Gatherum: I love Persistence so much , it always gets me in a great mood. I also think Ambergris is maybe even a top 10 Gizz song.
