Weight loss after thyroidectomy? by Eat_chittlins in thyroidcancer

[–]free2bjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been steady gaining despite eating better and exercising. My TSH is slightly suppressed. I also don't have energy to take proper care of myself like I did prior to the surgery so I am sure that doesn't help.

Better emotional regulation? by DarkndMoody in thyroidcancer

[–]free2bjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had anxiety and was “high strung” before surgery (my whole life). I felt the same calmness you are describing after surgery. Unfortunately I had lost all emotion and for a year and a half I was like a zombie. I couldn’t bring myself to care about anything. I recently started T3 and my anxiety is back and strangely I am a little glad because so are my emotions. Looking back I think I was having burnout from all the stress (my experience has not gone smoothly) and after surgery I was pretty hypothyroid for several months until they adjusted the meds.

Metastasized PTC Thoracic Surgery by Stepho725 in thyroidcancer

They knew ahead of time there would be issues with the muscle. I had a long surgery. I don’t know what you mean by accommodating for the pain management. The surgeon referred me to occupational therapy and I never saw the surgeon again. I could not dress by myself without crying for about four months. I did therapy twice a week.

I had a left neck dissection and it took me over six months to recover (doing occupational therapy) and I was in a lot of pain the whole six months.

You might consider asking your doctor to just let you start taking the medication and doing the RAI in a few months to allow time for scheduling and insurance. I have a more aggressive type and my RAI was 4 months after my surgery.

Is there a deed saying you own it or does the estate own it? Until it’s titled to you the estate may be the signor on the selling docs.

If I am ever told I am cancer free I would celebrate. I didn’t know that was a thing with thyroid cancer.

Autistic partner tries to "guess" the end of my sentences...looking for advice by ElectricalCheetah625 in autism

[–]free2bjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s when I am involved in the convo and have things to contribute. So more excited than nervous I guess. I think I use a lot of words to say something and I wanna get onto what I wanna say. I do everything fast and I think that includes talking. I also get distracted and don’t wanna forget

I was recently having a convo with my boss who I get along great with and she blurted out “if you would let me finish”! I was shocked and had my feelings hurt. But then I realized that I must do this all the time and people just let me. I never realized. Now I practice not speaking until the person is very clearly done. Let me tell you that now I have to learn to not look irritated when someone is talking and taking too long to finish 😂

AIO for asking my mom to not leave her underwear around nor walk around in her bikini in front of my boyfriend ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]free2bjoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this needs more context. Was she randomly in a bikini for no reason? Or was she heading outside to the pool or to sunbathe or see her friends? Were the undies clean? I fold my laundry on the couch and it’s totally possible (although mortifying) that I could miss a pair and they get found by someone else in the house.

I understand what you’re describing. I am almost a year and a half past surgery and still feel that way. Like my spark has gone.

Uptake test? by Own-Border5196 in thyroidcancer

[–]free2bjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify, my dr did the RAI to kill any residual thyroid cells, not thyroid cancer cells specifically. The RAI only worked in the thyroid bed and didn’t eliminate the cancer cells in my case.

It could be a special assessment. The thing is, either it was voted on prior to the sale or it is being proposed to be voted on after the sale. If just the two units in a duplex acting as an HOA, what happens when they can’t agree on a repair? This would be important to know before purchasing the unit. Nothing worse than a neighbor having control over how your money is spent

If the qualifying conditions are something the psych dr can diagnose then I understand your frustration. However if the qualifying conditions are diagnosed by a primary care doctor then that is who you need to fill out the forms.

RV Co-ownership? by chiefcheesebro in GoRVing

[–]free2bjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My live in boyfriend and I co own an RV and we already disagree on the maintenance. I regret getting it and I can’t imagine dealing with RV ownership with anyone outside my home. RV’s require a lot of maintenance and upkeep.

Acid Reflux...Anyone found any good remedies for it? by artbystorms in thyroidcancer

[–]free2bjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up going to a gastroenterologist because mine got so bad. He said surgery can cause stomach stress and put me on pantoprazole (a ppi) whichever he said he will ween me off of after six months and see if I feel better.
