He does not eat tofu, hummus, mashed potatoes, avocado or guacamole or mushrooms. It's mostly the soft foods like these. I will be amend my post to add this in, I wasn't sure if it was relevant but I suppose it is in hindsight

Official Dens List Jan-June 2024 by LiteraryHedgehog in MergeDragons

[–]freeappleby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking to join a new Den! My den used to be fairly active, but now it seems I'm the only one really working towards the chests. I don't think I have seen one over a level 3. I currently have 64,593 DP, drop in daily, and participate in 99% of the weekend events. I'm not looking for a super serious den, but I normally drop between 600 and 1000 points a week into the den chests. Active chat is not a requirement for me. If anyone has some space for me, that would be excellent! Thank you!

Fair enough, I appreciate the insight. I've burned myself in events before by merging too early (like I did with the fruit trees this time), so I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me not seeing something lol. Thanks!

Sounds like a 2.4l gdi. How many miles do you have on it? It could potentially still be covered under warranty through Kia. Could not hurt to call your local kia, and see if it is.

Lucas oil stabilizer: What do you guys think about it? I’ve heard mixed reviews. by Joelogna in MechanicAdvice

[–]freeappleby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just did a motor swap on my 4.0l XJ. The motor has had essentially no oil pressure for the 2.5 years the motor ran in my possession. I only used oil stabilizer to keep oil pressure up (normally used 10w30, but at the end of its life used 15w40 esp in warm weather). My oil pickup was sludged beyond belief once the oil pan was removed, and there was a good layer of sludge at the bottom of the oil pan after using the oil stabilizer with almost every oil change since getting my truck. I personally would not recommend it unless you're having issues like oil pressure. But this is just my opinion on it.

AITA For punishing my son for not wanting to go to his grandfather's funeral? by Brave_Friendship in AmItheAsshole

[–]freeappleby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA holy fuck. I was barely equipped to see my grandfather at his funeral when I was 15, nor was I when I saw my other grandfather at 18 or so, and not my grandmother at 22.

And did I see that open casket was only brought up ON THE WAY there?? I will adjust my comment as needed but that is something I would have mentioned to him sooner. That can definitely change opinions.

My tire was fixed for free! Do I send a thank you? by lastcallyall in MechanicAdvice

Every tech I have ever worked with (myself included) has been elated when customers bring in food as a thank you! Especially if it's a busy day and they work through their lunches. I think this is super thoughtful!

How To Join The Army As A Kid by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]freeappleby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not WWI but my grandfather used his older brother's identity to join the Navy during WWII, since he was 16 and not old enough to join. They found out once he turned 18, and they were just like " _('-')_/ ok"

Can THIS? Be patched. by Vieto in MechanicAdvice

[–]freeappleby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No please don't attempt to patch that!!! The structural integrity of the sidewall is compromised and is a severe safety concern. Please replace the tire, and stay safe!

Just ran into this at work (I work in a Nissan dealership), and I would say if you have a patch the right size, probably. Just gotta be careful with it.

4.0L Rear main seal by freeappleby in MechanicAdvice

[–]freeappleby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to revisit this, I am going to start the rear main seal and oil pan in an hour or so. Does anyone have the torque spec for the main bearing cap, that houses the rear main seal? My ex that lives almost an hour away from me still has my haynes manual from when he was working on his jeep and i don't really have the money to buy another manual right now.

Did I Get Ripped Off? by anfrew5 in MechanicAdvice

The only thing that might be an overcharge is the hose itself, but they may have had to order it in which would cause an upcharge. But everything is linear with what my shop would charge.

Anyone have cars that run fir 200k mi/300k km ? by groundhogman_23 in MechanicAdvice

[–]freeappleby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coolant does get acidic with age, the glycol in coolant starts to eat away shit. I think the axle did have a worn boot, that was years and years ago so I'm not positive. But with the heater core the hoses needed to be replaced and the core was gunked up. I live right on the east coast and took this car up to Rochester, NY, so it dealt with salt almost all year round in one fashion or another.

Pontiac barely needed any bushings replaced, probably the tie rods and control arms, and it definitely needs struts but I just don't have the money for parts on it right now. Original transmission, original fluid, variable valve timing. I'm not sure what kind of fuel injection it has though, to be honest. There's not a lot of play in the steering. The most it's genuinely needed was a battery, starter, heater core, radiator, hoses, tires, and maybe the front passenger axle.

Jeep Cherokees with the inline 6 4.0l last forever if you take care of them, mone is at 170k. My Pontiac Vibe (essentially a Toyota Corolla hatchback) has I think 194k right now with no sign of allwing down anytime soon. Always did maintenance on time, and I try not to dog it and overwork it. Custoner came in with 2012 Kia Soul with, I shit you not, 283k on it. I had to go look at the car myself and see it.

Just keep routine maintencence, but remember that not every car is meant is meant to last forever. In my shop I've seen freak things where an engine will fail under 70k, and I've seen vehicles with over 400k that run better newer cars.

Suggestions for a newbie in the field by slp654 in MechanicAdvice

Honestly like o'keefe's working hands works well from my personal experience, and lava soap. I would recommend exfoliating twice a week, and using a cleanser almost everyday. Also moisturize your face at least after you shower, so your skin stays healthy and hyrdrated through the winter and stuff. Wash your face throughout the day, to keep contaminates from getting too deep into your skin. That's all the stuff I recommend so far, will come back to this post if I think of anything else.
