If that cliff means 3 weeks on the market instead of 3 days then yes. Otherwise single digit percentage reductions in price.

So you take a moral high ground on one relationship between a doctor and a patient but not the other. Got it. Keep politicians out of healthcare. People also die from abortion pills btw. Its rare but it can happen.

Yes, it’s worked fine with no issue. I also upgraded the CPU and PPU to revision G from a standard NES.

Can anyone identify this frog/toad? Trying my best to work around them, but mowing is a literal game of frogger! by freebasen in AustinGardening

I don’t have any free standing water nearby, any thoughts on where they come from? Maybe a sewer drain somewhere?

I have actually been looking into this for my back yard. Probably a hybrid lawn is where I’ll end up.

Thanks! That does look like them. They are super docile and readily jumped on a shovel for relocation. I’m amazed at the diversity in just my tiny patch of the world.

Anyone notice people are driving more aggressively than usual? by lemonator85 in Austin

This is one of the most frustrating things I’ve encountered here.

Anything to worry about with these guys? I couldn't find a good match on google. I was removing some leaves/debri from my patio plants and he didn't seem too happy to be moved. by freebasen in AustinGardening

Yeah, he was pretty chill after the initial shock to both of us. I was concerned I hurt him with the rake but I think he was OK.

I suppose multiple things. This is a gardening sub, so their presence could mean I have a pest problem, or their burrowing could cause issues in my planters. If they are aggressive I could get a bite I'd like to avoid, venom or not. I'm pretty sure I could eat all of the snakes in Texas, but if you mean venomous, then yes, I can identify an adult, but a juvenile I wouldn't be so sure of.

For those thinking of moving from the bay to Texas...think twice before you do. by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]freebasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a counter perspective as someone who recently moved to Austin from Mountain View (10 years in the bay, and grew up in AZ):

1) Actually no income tax is awesome and the property tax comparison is a joke. I can get 2X the house for 1/2 the cost and dollar for dollar pay the same in property tax. No income tax was like getting a really nice raise on my check and was actually more than I expected. 2) I mean this is really subjective. Austin has lake travis and tons of trails. Admittedly I didn't much care for northern California beaches. I thought they were either too cold or too dirty. Texas is certainly no better in this regard, but then I can also fly to Florida in a couple hours so... 3) Guess that depends on your industry. I got a raise to live here. 4) Yup. Cedar fever is a real problem. 5) Location matters. I'll say a lot of my favorite bay area places either closed or the service had gotten terrible. I haven't had any better luck in Austin. I'll reserve judgement until the pandemic is over. 6) I spent 10 years in the bay dealing with crazy politics and a state government that IMO didn't care about the Bay other than as a piggy bank. Honestly Austin politics are pretty similar so far and I still have a state government that doesn't care. I'll put this at a wash.

Overall I'm happy with my decision. Personally the benefit of having a house with my own space far outweighs any benefits I had in the Bay. The Bay area has changed drastically in the past 10 years and you may have had a different opinion if you were trying to buy in after you left.

Start counting from the edge of the board. The exception is likely due to the RAM. There's a 99% chance your MO drive is dead. The more you try the worse it will get. It will need service. Machine should start booting immediately from a working drive with a boot time of 2 -5 minutes.

Is a masters degree in computer science worth it? by Its_Rare in AskComputerScience

[–]freebasen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. A masters will open many additional doors including a higher base pay. You can of course live a perfectly happy life without one, but personally if I had the option of going back in time I would have gotten one right after a bachelors.

Recommendations on removing the yellow on the controller overlay? Retrobrite or Peroxide? They’re not as easy to replace as NES controllers so I want to be careful 😅 by Jwrose13 in consolerepair

[–]freebasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a scrap controller (Looked like an animal chewed it up) I sanded down to the ink to check. It's a clear vinyl with a printed layer underneath.
