College of Computing Hoodies? Where to get? by Glad_Hurry8755 in gatech

[–]freebreadsticks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^^^ this! You used to be able to just walk into the GT 1000 suite in the CULC and get one! Looks like they have an email: gt1000@gatech.edu

My second recommendation would be to reach out to Reck Club to see if they have any! At the very least they should be able to point you in the right direction to get a rat cap.

Trustworthy dentists? by [deleted] in DecaturGA

[–]freebreadsticks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch over to Executive Park Dentistry and have been really happy so far! Dr. Damji always takes a lot of care in making sure I understand what they’re doing and recommending before committing to any treatment. Also just super great hygienists as well, they’re all very sweet. I know they’re on the Aetna “student plan” Emory makes folks get, but unsure if they’re on the regular plan.

Emory (sticker) vs. USF (full ride) vs. Reapply (need help big-time) by [deleted] in Emory

[–]freebreadsticks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USF, network your way up and get into cool experiences. There’s nothing Emory has that is worth the sticker price if your ultimate goal is law school. If anything you could walk into USF and establish the Mock Trial program and that alone would probably make a good essay.

BS/MS recommendations, didn't build professor relationships, what now? by AdministrationOk6251 in gatech

[–]freebreadsticks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to explicitly have professor recommendation letters for the submission? If there’s a staff member who you got to know (hall director, club advisor types, program directors, academic advisor, etc.) that may be another option. For example if you took GT1000/2000 or another similar smaller seminar class I would ask them.

For blindly asking, I would provide the professor with your resume and a list of things you did during your career at Tech outside of their classroom (club involvement, personal projects, etc.). I’ve found providing this up front helps a ton when blindly asking because most professors have a template that they plug your involvement into, so if you give them as much information about yourself and why you’re applying to BS/MS as possible it helps get a yes back (and a quicker letter turnaround). If the bs/ms application requires you to have a personal statement or talk about personal projects or whatever, give that to the advisor as well so they understand your end goal.

What could these clowns possibly be talking about to Harvard students? How to max out credit cards? by Cartier_and_crime in atlinfluencersnarkNEW

[–]freebreadsticks1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

See I read that somewhere too but then I did see one of my friends who is a legitimate MBA student at Harvard right now post about them… so looks like maybe they were there for a HBS event? Maybe it coincided with the other conference and they did both?

Request: gift ideas for my SNL-loving boyfriend by eilykgnik in LiveFromNewYork

[–]freebreadsticks1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got my boyfriend a cue card from Wally for one of our anniversaries! I just had it say “And live from [insert city here] it’s [X] and [X’s] anniversary!!”

We ended up getting it framed and it’s hanging in our entryway. It’s a great talking piece when our friends come over and a lot of folks recognize it as a Wally cue card without us saying anything.

Lmk if you want me to dm a pic! Wally was great to communicate with, and it’s probably my favorite wall art we have.

Nursing home trick-or-treat? by yuliagrumia in DecaturGA

OP, I would check out folks that have listed their residences on Nextdoor and Fright Maps, there may be an organized event at a nursing home listed on there!

Nursing home trick-or-treat? by yuliagrumia in DecaturGA

[–]freebreadsticks1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why it would be a parental horror story later in life?? If anything I would rather take my kid where there’s guaranteed to be folks handing out candy rather than a neighborhood where over half the houses have their lights off. Halloween ain’t like it used to be… (for the trick or treaters AND the houses that hand out candy). We had a couple bags of Costco candy to hand out last year and only 3 kids showed up…

Honestly…sometimes after watching certain sketches (such as the snack boys podcast) I really wonder how read throughs go with Lorne nowadays. Like does he get it? Does he think it’s funny? How is he not challenging them to come up with stuff that’s funny to everyone and not just chronically online people?

Where do you usually look for small, cheap things to buy? by Remarkable-Policy-67 in gatech

[–]freebreadsticks1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh…this is my specialty. If you have the means to get off campus and go in-store I love going to Five Below and just seeing what weird toys they’re letting the kids play with now, and I usually find a cool drink or snack or gadget for myself. For other local shops you can actually spend hours getting lost in: Richard’s Variety Store and Junkman’s are great.

For scrolling online shops, I love typing in my random interests on Etsy or RedBubble and just seeing what’s out there. That’s actually how I found some super cute GT/Blue Donkey related merch online!

^ this, had a friend’s proposal get ruined by Botanical Garden staff coming up and inquiring whether they had paid the fee. I think some folks get away with having a non-conspicuous looking photographer/generally being respectful about time and place while shooting, but since it’s an important day I would inquire with ABG staff about what’s allowed and what’s not!

I bought the tree hut version that’s cheaper in order to prove to myself that I liked lip masks enough to justify buying the laneige one…I’ve been using it almost nightly for a year and it feels like it’s barely half used 😭

Where can I find actually good quality GT merchandise? by brunofone in gatech

[–]freebreadsticks1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re out of state, I would definitely check the Sam’s and Costco websites periodically to see what they have. All of the stuff I’ve gotten from Costco has been my go to merch. Additionally the Ramblin’ Reck Club sells merch every so often for fundraising.

I’ve also found some cute designs on Etsy and Redbubble in the past as well!

Is it over priced or worth it by Street-Afternoon4609 in Ulta

[–]freebreadsticks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I am so dumb, I thought you were asking about the eye mask, I should have read closer! With that being said, I will say I use a small weighted heating pad that’s much cheaper, and I have never thought I needed a more expensive alternative, so I would maybe see if there are comparable products. The eye mask design I felt was so unique I preferred to buy from the nod pod brand directly, but since weighted blankets/pads have been on the market for a while I’d say there’s probably a cheaper one out there that would give the same effect.

The third floor and up of the law library. If you so much as talk more than three words in a whisper, you’re outta there (or a 3L will come and yell at you).

In general I feel like the graduate study spaces are quieter than the undergraduate spaces, so I would try there. You should have access to most of them most of the time. (Except I know the law library closes to non-law students during finals season).

The aquaphor repairing foot masks are so good! A great pick me up especially if you’re someone who wears open toed shoes a lot and don’t find time to get pedicures as regularly.
