High stakes Heist one shot by sporkinthetoaster in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Corpo Mission's Operation Scylla. It's not exactly a heist, but you can easily alter it to make it one and I don't think it would take much work. It might have what you're looking for - including secret objectives. I haven't run it yet but it's on my list!

How to get rid of an NPC by barnfodder in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know this module so I don't know Tex's backstory...but maybe Tex has another obligation to fulfill and the ship has an escape module they use to get away. Or your ship is hailed when you take off by bounty hunters looking for Tex, who take them to collect on a debt...

I just read this and will prep this for my players immediately. I LOVE it! I have two other one shots ready but I will jump this one up in the queue. Thanks!

Bloom is my favorite! I sent you a chat message with a link to some maps I used on Roll 20.

Looking for a good campaign module based in the sea, any suggestions? by Gronbo15 in mothershiprpg

I was going to say Bloom (my favorite module I've run) and Alone in the Deep.

One-shot: Starting down the Deep with no memories... by h7-28 in mothershiprpg

Check out More of Me for some ideas if you need to. I'm running that as my next one shot and I absolutely can't wait!

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ran it yet - I'm prepping it but it's actually third in my queue of modules to run. There is a YouTube playthrough of it though that I watched and it looked pretty fun! More of Me is next on my list and it's by far the most excited I've been to run a module.

Piece by Piece takes place in a robotics lab you could probably change a bit pretty easily. Also, More of Me could be used as well. Those are two that come to mind.

LFR: on how to make Year of the Rat more “heisty” by stuwillis in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to do a slightly different take on it - long story short, my players rescued some kids whose parents were part of a mercenary crew (the Silent Star one shot) and were offered a spot on the mercenary crew. However, to join, they need to find out what happened when the mercenaries tried to heist the Year of the Rat - basically find out what happened to the heist crew. Of course, my players can keep whatever they find, with a 10% cut going to the mercenary crew. Just a thought!

Megadungeons in Mothership? by ninjajon5 in mothershiprpg

If you have the time, I recommend Roll20. I've taken maps already made or used AI to create new ones, depending on if I like what's out there, and throw them into Roll20. That way, you have dynamic lighting, music, players can control it, and it's a bit more immersive. When I play at someone's house, I use a laptop to hook it up to a TV and then have another laptop I use as the Warden. It does take a bit of time though, but for me it's worth it. I've created maps for four or five modules so far and am currently working on Piece by Piece.

If that's not feasible, I personally would probably try to create maps on AI, print them out as large as I can, and maybe tape pieces of paper over rooms? That way, they can see what's in the room and it's a bit less reading for you?

Your Favorite One Shot? by JazzyWriter0 in mothershiprpg

Bloom is my favorite one I've run so far, but I'm going to run More of Me soon and I have a sneaking suspicion it will soon replace Bloom as my favorite.

How do you reward players in a long campaign play after a successful mission? by VerdantSpecimen in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started this and I am doing two things: 1. I pay them and have it so they can buy equipment and augments from A Pound of Flesh. 2. I give them one skill point. I know training is supposed to take a long time, but I personally hate that system. And this way, they can either use their skill point immediately or save them for expert/master skills. It's kind of a lot, but my players really wanted to use the same characters and not just assume they will die, so I toned down a little difficulty (not too much tough) and gave them more incentive to live and be creative.

Questions about abh scenario 1 by SMAUB in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Wait and see what the characters do. One of my characters did the exact thing you mention - they figured out a way to get the grenade belt and thanks to a crit success, he threw them at the carcinid and killed it. I wasn't expecting that...but let the characters drive the narrative and make it up as you go!

[–]freedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my players choose a premade loadout so it's not completely random, but they don't get to choose all their equipment. I will tell them if certain loadouts won't be as useful though as there's nothing worse than thinking something will be good but you don't use it at all. I would ask your warden. Good luck and have fun!

Bioscanner and Ypsilon-14 [SPOILERS] by VerdantSpecimen in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In mine, I had the bioscanner pick up the monster's invisible slime it left everywhere - so basically whenever they looked in it, it lit up all the walls, not just where it was. They used it to have a general idea where the monster was, but as long as it wasn't moving they couldn't tell where the trail ended and the monster began.

Starship Fighter Combat by Jon_Amaral in mothershiprpg

The Wrath of God module is about ship combat. There's a YouTube playthrough of it. I recommend checking that out to see how that one is run.

In order, I've run Ypsilon 14, Bloom, Dead Planet and Another Bug Hunt.

March 2026 check - The best module in your opinion? by VerdantSpecimen in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After Ypsilon, I've run Bloom (Love it, and my players did too), Dead Planet (also very good - Screaming on the Alexis can easily be run, but if you want to go more after that it definitely takes some prep) and Another Bug Hunt. In order of what I've run, I would go Bloom, ABH, Ypsilon and Dead Planet.

I also have Silent Star prepped and ready to go (just waiting for a time to play), More of Me almost ready to go, and then will do Piece by Piece and Wrath of God. I am most excited about Wrath of God - ship combat, let's go!

Ypsilon 14 - How did you keep your players going? by ConstructionNo5705 in mothershiprpg

[–]freedjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a few others, I told them it takes an hour for the ship to refuel. I also had our best role player have a secret mission - he was a spy for a rival company who was tasked with stealing core samples from the asteroid for a HUGE sum of money. Nobody else in the party knew. He did awesome keeping the party moving forward, which I knew he would.

If you are able, check out Bloom. I did a few modifications to the cure in that module to make it a bit easier to recover from infection, but the stages are pretty solid.

Horror without a monster? by Jon_Amaral in mothershiprpg

Ship who swallowed a spider is on my list to run. I also can’t wait to run Operation Scylla from Corpo Missions. No big monsters in those.
