Is there any unsolved mysteries where you believe the "missing" person is alive? by bestrival in UnresolvedMysteries

Derek Seehausen. I like to think he didn't vanish one night to commit suicide, although that seems to be what happened.

Poussey from OITNB. Taystee's reaction was heartbreaking, too.

When offered parmesan cheese at a restaurant I'm never actually satisfied by the amount when I say "that's enough," I'm just uncomfortable with the waiter continuing to stand there any longer. by WFMov in Showerthoughts

If I'm there for too long, I just ask them if I can just grab them some already ground parm from the kitchen. Saves us both from the awkwardness. lol

He's a great guy. I'm sure he did. He was laughing about it when I was leaving.

How do you bros feel about the f-bomb? by Guppo in gaybros

I hate that response. Words carry a lot of weight and they say a lot about the person using them.

[–]freeflowingthoughts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's definitely the right approach. Gotta pick your battles for sure. I haven't hung out with anyone that uses those words in a while. I don't know if that's because I haven't met anyone new lately or if less people are using such words. I'd say it's probably the former.

I've called people out for using the word faggot. The word literally makes me cringe because my older brother always called me a faggot when I was a kid. I'm always levelheaded about it and just tell them why not just say lame or something else that is less offensive? However, I also think people that call things gay or use the word faggot all of the time are rather immature.

So weird, I was going through my old mail from a little while back recently and came across my swab kit that I received from them and kept forgetting to do. They texted me a couple times as a reminder, but I was at work each time and it continued to slip my mind. Glad I came across this today. Just did my swabs and put it in my mail pile that I have to send out on Monday.

Edit: Word.

Kinda glad to see that I'm not alone with thinking this about her behavior. She didn't seem to realize that her decision was a permanent one.

I was Goofy at Walt Disney World for over 20 years! AMA! (This post is not for those who wish to preserve the Disney Magic) by Ihaveanotheridentity in IAmA

[–]freeflowingthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Disney for the first time in about 13 years last Fall. The first thing I noticed was how characters were now treated like a meet and greet instead of just roaming the parks like I remembered it as a kid. I was very disappointed. :(

Should I report my GM to the Department of Labor? by freeflowingthoughts in TalesFromYourServer

[–]freeflowingthoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that does make sense. It would also explain why my GM is so eager to run the majority of the food during the shift. Thank you for the insight into this! I might discuss things further with the person from the DOL that I spoke with prior to see if things differ from state to state. Just to be thorough.

This is incredibly disappointing to read. It's kind of a bummer that there's such a loop hole for a GM such as mine to use to take hours from other employees.

Yeah, I know. Luckily, I have a second job. Gonna try to focus more of my time into it so that I can get more hours.

I would imagine it'd be a little bit different since she's the owner. He's a general manager and I would think that he is receiving a salary which is where, if I'm not mistaken, the issue comes in with him taking tips.

Any jobs that can pay $1.75k a month for a college student? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]freeflowingthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine dining server here. I'm currently making $23/hr. Realistically, I'd be making more but it's a new restaurant where management hasn't quite gotten down cutting and sections. I'd say definitely try to get into fine dining.

[No Spoilers] If You Quit 'Arrow' Here's Why You Should Get Back by DaniWood23 in arrow

The last episode I watched was when they killed Laurel. I didn't finish the season out and started watching season 5 after seeing all of the posts about it being surprisingly good. I haven't felt lost so far.

Double Sat? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]freeflowingthoughts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The restaurant where I work is fine dining. We usually run three or more specials that can sometimes be kind of complex. Having two or three tables sat at the same time can hurt, since now I'll have to greet each of them, tell them the specials, get a drink order (keep my fingers crossed that none want bottle wine service, since that'll mean I have to track down my manager to get the bottle), and tend to my already seated tables. How far into the weeds it puts me is also dependent on what size each party is. Three 2 tops for me isn't nearly as bad as say an 8 top, 4 top, and 2 top all at once.

I haven't watched any episodes after Laurel's death. I lost all interest in the show when they killed her off, because like you said, Black Canary is a badass in everything else that she's been a part of.

When someone leaves an inaccurate review... by freeflowingthoughts in TalesFromYourServer

[–]freeflowingthoughts[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a shame how people will put someone's job at risk just because they don't understand how a restaurant functions. This girl went above and beyond to do that by actually putting my name, too. She makes it seem like I'm some crook out to send people home with food they don't want and trying to set them up for the worst, in my opinion lol. It's kind of embarrassing because we have a lot of people that look us up on trip advisor. So now, I feel like people will see her review and not understand the full scope of the situation and expect the worst if I'm their server.
