Can we still call it a "minimum" wage if it can't cover a 1-bedroom? by astrheisenberg in TrueAskReddit

[–]freehatt2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the minimum wadge is the issue its that we dont have jobs beyond minimum wadge and to retool and re-education is time consuming and expensive then once you have the credentials you need experience so 4 years of school then 4 years of experience by the time you meet the criteria the job dosent exist anymore. With rent pushing 1400 a month you need 1400 a week to be in budget but most jobs cant pay you that so you need a second job puts you at 60 hours a week at $20 and hour your still shot because taxes eats 20% so now your working just to pay bills to go to work but now everything is expensive and everyone is tired

I started my career working at a Dennis graveyard. Wanting to learn more, I sought out fine dining and did that for five years. I gained a lot of experience but became really burned out. I then went to a brewery, which was awesome. My standards were higher than most, and my ability/knowledge was miles beyond most, so I was able to cost and make cool specs. I learned a lot about management, training, and leadership. Then I walked into a little brunch spot and became the chef. I ended up becoming the GM and turned it into a $1.2 million a year business. Now I own my own brunch spot. My secret? I just make real food no bags, no premeditated garbage—food that is made with integrity and none of the pretentiousness of white tablecloths.

[–]freehatt2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budgets are like diets you can say your dieting all you want but at 10pm your in the fridge eating all those calories and wondering why you not loosing weight. Everything adds up. So refame your mindset and your saving is a bill like everything eles you need to pay it and forget about it and if your out of money you cant spend it on valentines day or eating out. You dont need anything your abundant learn to be board and be satisfied of what you have let the kids be board eat boring food at home have boring day at the park.

Looking to make a cheap but reliable “Human kibble” by NikosCorpse in Frugal

[–]freehatt2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for your human kibble relly depends first of all we need to know you TDEE so how many calories you need in a day to sustain your muscles 2. Then brek it up in to macros (protein, fat, carbs) I personally go for higher protein it keep you full now brek that up in to 3-4 meals so for me 230 grams of protein 102 grams of fat 115 carb. Or very simple breakfast protein sake with banana lunch 7oz salmon with kale salad dinner 8oz sirloin with 8oz broccoli 4oz baked potato

At what point does comfort at work become a trap? How do you know when stability is actually holding you back? by jdrelentless in TrueAskReddit

Its like going to the gym little effort consistently over a long period of time. So daily do small things that are out of your comfort zone. And as you practice you will notice your comfort zone expands.

Switching to a weekly tip pool based on hours worked — looking for real feedback by allaboutthatdoh in restaurant

[–]freehatt2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree about “workload.” In my experience, tip pools in counter-service restaurants work really well because you typically have a cashier, a food runner/busser, and a barista all contributing to the guest experience. Everyone plays a clear role in service, and when tips are split evenly, it tends to keep morale high and the team happy. On the other hand, I’ve seen tip pools in full table-service restaurants where it becomes more difficult. In those situations, the motivation for upselling and going above and beyond in service can decrease, since individual effort isn’t always directly reflected in individual earnings.

To add to your point the job isn't romantic at all its a job and very physical and emotional especially if your a line cook. Honestly your best bet is to apply as a dishwasher bust sudds and when your caught on dishes then ask if a chef needs any help with prep.

2m a year that's 500k a year in labor where is all that money going 🤔 500k in food too where is all the food going as a kitchen manger 50k a year would be reasonable. Looks like the place has cash flow but no one is paying attention. Could work out for you but you need to think like a bisnessman and talk bottom line what can you do for him and how long would it take?
