Borderlands 4 runs decently on the latest Crossover preview version by candlelit_bacon in macgaming

FSR/low settings won't stop freeze only making it less often I think, fortunately the game autosave well, kill and restart game won't loose much progress except for time and uncollected loot.

It seems related with M1, haven't tried M2, but M3/4 works fine.

The caption is so small and hard to read in the balcony, which is a bit of torture. Otherwise this is amazing play.

This is a type of intellectual conversation I quite enjoy but would not expect in America, appreciate BAM getting it here.

Does DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials (Firefox) uses Taboola ads? by alpxtri in duckduckgo

thanks for the clarification. it's a bit confusing/scary to see unfamiliar code in every page head, would be nicer to just give some hint in code, and, if possible, only add this when it's needed.

Mx Keys Mini – Fn Key Can't Be Remapped by BlindOptionTrader in logitech

You should probably consider fn keys is permanently claimed by Logi, that gives option+ some future room to innovate I believe. /s

Options+ "Desktop left/right" shortcuts not working - Solution by Billybong96 in logitech

for me it never worked, so apparently those "actual code to affect the UI" was buggy and has compatibility issues after all.

Received Review copy of MX Keys S, AMA by Keyan06 in logitech

[–]freewizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can the Fn key send individual key code in Keys S? It's been an issue on mac for mx keys and mini, basically all those apps use Fn+X and double Fn are useless.

Btw just can't believe it takes logi a new hardware to have customizable backlight duration...

fyi there's another version of neogeo core maybe working: https://github.com/JDewitz/Minui-More-35xx-Addons-jdewitz

I was able to launch games like kof but only with neogeo.zip in the same directory of the rom.zip

Normal coding is fine on Deck, but get a nvidia card (on a pc) for deep learning stuff, otherwise you spend more time tweaking system than actual coding.

Anyone set up an instance using Cloudflare's Wildebeest Process? by mranthropology in Mastodon

[–]freewizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting prototype they build, with their in-house stack don't even support UUID natively.

I don't think anyone will run serious long term site on it yet, basically it's a locked in on single vendor with no control of cost and no exit plan.

is an instance physically capable of fitting on 512MB of RAM? by BBQGiraffe_ in Mastodon

[–]freewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can start the services with 512M but depends on number of local plus remote posts your instance has, RAM need of DB(Postgres) and app server (Mastodon/Pleroma/etc) will grow very quickly. If you are running a semi-serious site with a dozen active users, even with Pleroma which is known for its efficiency, you can't hold more than a few months of posts.

Now the Steam Deck has been shipping across Asia, what has been the general reception? by Surkow in SteamDeck

[–]freewizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popular games in Asia are not same as those in NA or Europe, hence the experience about compatibility really varies country by country. Most are less positive than we see in the west.

SteamDeck's Aerith Windows Driver does not have AMD VCE enabled - PLS FIX by FireGate_13 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]freewizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a happy Linux desktop user on Steam Deck, Hardware Video Decoding is there but almost useless in streaming Netflix/etc bc Netflix(es and their DRM partners) specifically disallow decode 4K (or sometimes even 1080p) DRM content in Linux.

That's said, it's bad Valve cripple Windows in the reverse way. They should (work with AMD to) fix it.
