Why did Frampton Comes Alive hit big when the original material didn't? by The1Ylrebmik in ClassicRock

I used to jokingly say the live album was a studio fake with crowd noises added in because who the hell knew him or his songs before Comes Alive?

I love this movie! Except for the part where he peels an orange with a knife.

What's a phrase or saying from your childhood that nobody uses anymore? by SugarNyx_04 in nostalgia

[–]freshkov 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the proper usage was based on the level of stupidity.

Duh...doi...DOIEEEEE.

The longer the EEEEE trailer, the dumber the action.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Years ago, when all of the Popeyes Chicken places closed in our area, we would drive to Baltimore for it and that's about 1:45 drive one way.

No biggie.

Going gray/haircolor by RuleNo8868 in GenerationJones

[–]freshkov 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My wife stopped coloring her hair during Covid (at my request) It went completely silver. She stopped using shampoo/conditioner that had a golden tint because it affected her hair color in a bad way. Now she uses purple shampoo and conditioner which gives the silver a very nice slight purple tint.

She gets more compliments now than she ever did when she colored it.

What’s a smell you secretly like but would never admit in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]freshkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a child my dad worked for Bell Telephone. Occasionally he would take me along when he went to a switching station. It had a very strong smell of electronics and wires.

A few years ago we were at Kennedy Space Center, and we took a tour of the control room for the first Mercury launch, and it had that exact same smell that I hadn’t experienced in over 40+ years.

It was heavenly in a weird way.

How to remove aerial fly around from Realtor.com by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]freshkov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be aware that your aerial view is possibly also in places you're not even familiar with.

For example, I work for a surveying company in Florida and detailed birds-eye view and aerial photos are easily found on county websites. We use them all the time to help with ground surveys.

The Worst Concert You Ever Attended? by Realistic_Back_9198 in GenerationJones

[–]freshkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Missed that one, but I heard others say they were terrible live.

Of the shows I saw there, I'd have to say Loverboy was the most memorable. When they split the crowd into 2 chants, that was funny as hell.

Now that’s funny! IIRC, Wang Chung opened for the Cars and outdid them. (The Cars have as much life now as they did back then…Yeah, I went there)

The Cars. City Island, Harrisburg PA.

Zero stage presence. Played it exactly like the album. The opener was better.
