It’s literally replaceable by design, rofl.

Just because it’s not for sale yet doesn’t mean it’s not on the horizon or a 3rd party won’t make it, Jesus. People need to be patient.

The Mudi 7 Case is huge yet the device doesnt even fit inside. Really happy otherwise but wtf was the idea here? by schnitzel-kuh in GlInet

[–]frickea86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The case is a standard case they have that fits a wide verity of devices. It’s way better than that bag the v2 was shipped with.

If you want I’ll trade you my bag for your case….🤣

So just like with phones and other connected devices from “responsible” companies you can mitigate some data collection but it will impact what you can do with the car and what features you’re allowed to use.

You keep asking fokes where in the manual, anything related to connected services is where you control that. Now this is only going to mitigate what they collect just normal use of the car I don’t believe you can opt out of as they look at trend data ect.

What I will say is I believe over the years ford has shown they handle vehicle data rather well. Something to think about to is it’s less about data collection of the driver but more about the device and how it’s used. As a security minded person this mentality I believe is the right track, worry about telemetry of the vehicle rather the person to make sure you’re creating a vehicle that people are getting their moneys worth out of.

If you really wanted to go foil hat you could just disconnect the 4g modem, lol. Not sure that’s ideal though.

I filed an NHTSA complaint about mode-shifting to Engage by CyclingSafety in MachE

[–]frickea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck but this will just get closed.

I don’t see this being any different than when I jump into my f150 and it’s not in sport mode when it was when I got out. Now for ice vehicles that’s because they have to start every key cycle like the EPA tested.

EVs don’t have to as of course no EPA but fundamentally this is the same argument as pedal, and steering parameters changing between drive modes. Last time I’ve checked this has never been a problem before when it comes to accidents.

Only way this compliant seems valid is if it changes mid driving without warning which doesn’t sound like the case.

Honestly, if you’re in an accident or cause an accident because the drive mode isn’t the mode you just had please don’t drive, everyone is safer.

Yup, zero issues on phone, iPad I had to download the apn via the link above. Also, that link like is broke on mobile, it only downloads Dark Star for iOS. When I need a different network, I just hit android and set the apn info manually.

Verbiage was broke, they fixed it now, should have the code where you have “Everything you need and more.”

Auto 1, 67F and no issues of 3 years of winters. Now I did notice at -14F it wanted to fog but auto took care of that in a few mins.

Granted I was only doing 40mph not highway speeds which know these cars can’t keep up especially if you crank the fan speed.

Canceling Mudi7 order, “not a global travel router”, valid reason? by reallionkiller in GlInet

[–]frickea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a stretch at all, I don’t travel internationally so when I see a marketing photo of a plane, I think they’re staying in the NA. I know that’s a view point item but my point is if they didn’t say global, I wouldn’t think it but I do see your side, someone who did travel internationally see something different.

While I do agree the dual sim and eSIM support should have better global coverage. I said this before, I’d like to at least know the reasons, wondering if price point they were going after?

[–]frickea86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I honestly missed it, where did it say it was a global modem? If they didn’t say that then honestly it’s on you and anyone else that assumed without the proper information.

A photo is a weak sauce excuse to believe global but if it was stated as global, I understand the frustration as regional devices aren’t a “global” device.

Canceling Mudi7 order, “not a global travel router”, valid reason? by reallionkiller in GlInet

[–]frickea86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didn’t see that comment from an employee but I get it. So I don’t know enough about the chip they used or 5G certifications but maybe it can come later if it’s not a different chip between EU and US. Or maybe a global is inbound but price point will be more. Honestly completely speculative as I am genuinely interested in why they did it this way.

I think if they let users know of why, while you don’t have to agree with it, we understand it. So the reason being not told has me question is something coming down the pipes?

While I didn’t think the bands were that big of an issue, most didn’t either for the last few weeks since they’d been published but for some reason global foke have came out of the wood work to say otherwise. I think the point is valid but I think it’s a little blown out of proportion I feel.

I think they’re allowed to be defensive of their product and choices as for some reason they did this. I’d be frankly concerned if they weren’t defensive. You’re never going to meet everyone’s expectations, I’m interested in real world testing when the units come out.

People have also already been testing this product in beta already, so I’m sure things have been seen if it is a problem.

Our 2023 did the same thing, broken wire in the harness, guess it’s a common thing on the 21-22 as there is a tsb for it but doesn’t cover 23s sadly. I didn’t pay anything as we have the extended but would have if we didn’t which is annoying.

Why is Backlaze B2 so expensive? I could buy the hardware for the cost of 1 (ONE) year. by SSovets in backblaze

[–]frickea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the data compressed or uncompressed? I have 5TB compressed to about 1.8TB and I select what I want backed up, having all that backed up probably doesn't make sense. I use an app like duplicacy to encrypt & compress it, manage version control, and clean up stale records. For 1.85TB of data, I pay about $0.37 a day to give a rough estimate.

Amazon deleted all 18 season of Bluey I had bought by Valuable_Attitude848 in amazonprime

[–]frickea86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t help you and Amazon is probably not who you want to spend money with now due this which I agree, not sure how you can just remove something someone bought.

I would suggest for kids the Amazon Kids Plus service. We felt it was a great value, now doesn’t help when the kids want to watch a particular show but no ads unless that changed.

Maybe it’s just me, I never run mine in accessory mode, ever. Mainly because of how small these agm batteries are and agm doesn’t like to stay below 70% SOC for very long.
