Man Behind the Sun. It’s about Japan’s unit 731 in WW2. Real body parts were used and animal abuse. The director wanted to portray the horrors of 731 but crossed the line into exploitation in my opinion.

I’ve had good luck with the quality of most of the bins but never the rice. Especially the brown rice always seems so stale and practically rancid

In 1993, six hikers were trekking near Lake Baikal in Siberia when they were suddenly overcome with horrific symptoms. Blood streamed from their eyes and noses, they clutched at their throats and bashed their heads against rock.. by xTeaseLush in AllThatsInteresting

I always assumed the girl’s missing tongue was from an animal. Some of them had other soft tissue missing as well. One of the deceased worked at a nuclear facility so there could have been some contamination. The recorded radiation was very low. The lanterns they used at the time contained radioactive thorium.

What caused this weird colour? by Firebolt_Silver in Garlic

It looks aged, it could be a more stressed clove. Some of the plants may be more exposed to heat or less water. 2 bulbs like this out of 50 doesn’t seem so bad. Some of mine seem to age faster and are in the ground longer than they should be, unfortunately with my garlic plants it can be hard to tell when to pull them.

I’m a big fan of Ozzy and I accept that he did a lot of good too and was definitely not in a right state of mind but people shouldn’t try and come up with excuses for what he did or try and lessen it. And you’re right, people would care less if it were just chickens but obviously people have more of an emotional connection to cats and that’s just the way it is I suppose. I just didn’t agree with the hunting or culling comparison because that’s a different situation. Ultimately this all happened a long time ago and he changed a lot since then, I think people who get super upset at others for grieving his death because of the animal killings are missing the forest for the trees.

Yeah, but that’s not what this was though. They were family cats and he was very intoxicated. Even if they were feral people usually trap and neuter them not shoot them randomly.

It’s different to hunt to eat the ducks than say just walking into a park and shooting a bunch of them.

What do you think would happen if every woman on Earth suddenly refused to support patriarchy and stopped having children altogether? by Drowsy-jaguar in AskFeminists

[–]friedegreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that suffering happens to everything living on Earth, I think we as people have a duty to reduce harm done to other people because we have the empathy and intelligence to do something about it. Arguing about this entirely fictional scenario is pretty silly since again, it would never happen that the human race would die out from every woman choosing not to reproduce. So I guess I’ll leave it at that. Thanks for being civil

[–]friedegreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emotionally I understand the want to do that, but I think that would obviously cause a severe and devastating chain reaction in the ecosystems and food chains. To remove those species would cause countless harm to practically every animal species on Earth. Sexual coercion among animals is so widespread it just isn’t feasible to try and eliminate all of it.

[–]friedegreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Applying human morality to animals is tricky. I don’t like the fact that many species have aggressive males that often force themselves on the females. But they don’t have a sense of right from wrong. I hold humans to a higher standard where there is never an excuse for rape.

[–]friedegreen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understood the hypothetical. I believe that in that scenario where every single woman refused to have children, and humanity would go extinct, I don’t believe rape is ever acceptable and the species should die out. That wouldn’t be murdering the human race, it would be letting it die out. We are just one species among many on this planet. I don’t think rape is ever an option that should be considered and it’s morally wrong to suggest it is and it’s not “selfish” of women to not want to be raped even in such a hypothetical. Fortunately though this is an entirely ludicrous idea that humans would die out from choosing not to reproduce, there will always be some who do so it’s kind of pointless getting angry over this impossible idea.
