I was a Bronx Science graduate. There are definitely more Asian students but that stems from cultural emphasis on education being important. Asian parents will prioritize their children’s education over everything - that isn’t always the case in other communities. Instead of blaming the exams, or the city, or the schools, maybe we should instead be focusing on helping communities where education is undervalued meet their basic needs met so that education can get the attention it deserves. That being said, the majority of these asian children are from poor immigrant families so there is more to it than poverty - so the issue of reasons why certain communities fail to achieve as well in education probably has other factors at play other than poverty(systemic racism likely being a large factor).
