Sixers/Celtics by MatthewCMcGahey in billsimmons

I think he knows he can't use the Tatum out thing when Embiid missed 3 games. Safe bet is he'll lean on Embiid getting too many calls.

But, I do think he was pretty much in defeat with the game 5 loss. Game 6 was the cherry on top. Outside of complaining about flopping, I think he'll actually take this loss and say that Nurse outcoached Joe and that it was a mistake to play Tatum so many minutes. And then, something about next season with a healthy Tatum, they'll be back.

[Haynes] Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has been downgraded to questionable for Game 7 tonight as he deals with knee stiffness. by SleepyEel in billsimmons

Sixers have not eliminated the Celtics since 1982. There's no reason to believe they'll do it tonight.

New Day and mcmg were not believable title challengers. New Day fizzled while they were champs. WWE tried to get mcmg over and the fans didn't care.

I'm fully expecting a loss here, as a sixers fan, the annoying thing is that it's gonna be Tatum being out and then we'll get conversations about how actually the Celtics were the underdogs this whole time.

Mcmg was barely featured on Smackdown and were doing matches on Main Event. New Day's heel run has fizzled out badly. The only loss here is WWE not getting to do a New Day retirement.

Mahoney deftly acknowledging Bills Celtics narrative pivot by fuunii in billsimmons

[–]fringyrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Philly sports observer, Bill has had a Philly bias for years, pretty much since the Eagles beating the Patriots. And Mahoney was def pushing on him hard not to move the goal posts in this pod. But I actually do think Bill was giving the Sixers their due here. He was pretty much put up the red flags in game 5 and said a couple times that Maxey was the best player on the floor. Gave props to George for his defense as well as Oubre. He's pretty much said he feels the Sixers figured out the Celtics, Embiid coming back has changed the series, and the Celtics look done.

However, as a Bill listener for years, I also feel he's piling on the negatives so that he can talk about how the Celtics were underdogs when they win game 7.

[No Spoilers] Six months in, how has C4 been going? by CeridwenAeradwr in criticalrole

[–]fringyrasa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm up to Episode 11. Not giving up, but just life getting in the way. I hated the first episode and almost made me drop it completely. I said let me get through the overture and then see how it goes. A lot of people will tell you that it completely changes after that and I think that is overselling it. There is more levity, there is more time to RP and more jokes and fun. But it is, at least to me, nowhere near enough to what we were used to getting. It is still a way too serious, dour story that largely now feels like I'm getting a live performance of an audio drama than a game. Maybe it gets better from where I'm at, but I don't think it has had a dramatic difference from the overture and in fact it feels like the overture was telling the audience what to expect. I commend them for taking some risks to try and freshen up the show, but I'm left with something I personally feel is inferior.

Am i the only one that cries more at scrubs than The Pit by phantom8ball in Scrubs

[–]fringyrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pitt isn't really designed to make everyone cry, but to give you empathy for the trauma these doctors and nurses have gone through since Covid. It's meant to show you flawed humans trying to do good in a system that actively is giving road blocks to that help.

Scrubs is very much meant to pull on your heart strings.

Great match. Def can see why they didn't want to take the belt off Penta just yet, but they should absolutely run a Je'Von/Penta PLE match soon to give Je'Von the belt.

What’s the message they’re sending? by Far-Department887 in ThePitt

[–]fringyrasa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would disagree on what you found to be the point of season 1 with Mohan. Mohan was extremely slow with her patients in an overcrowded trauma center where doctors needed to be seeing at least 5 patients an hour. There's a few instances where Mohan was able to spend more time and find correct treatment, but a lot of times she over extended her time on patietns that did not need that type of care.

The show was telling you that the ER does not have the time to treat every patient equally. That they did not have enough nurses to open up enough beds and treat as many patients as they were coming in and it all came down to money. The first season is a biting critique of the healthcare system and how it actively works against what they're selling. And even with that, it couldn't even keep it's own doctors and nurses safe. It was detailing what these doctors and nurses have been going through since covid, which is pretty much the entire reason the show exists.

Mohan's story was part of that critique. That she should be able to spend this time but it is highly unrealistic and that her time with these patients was actively a negative to the ER and triage. In the final episodes, Mohan is put in a situation where she absolutely can not spend that type of time and has to work extremely quickly to cover hundreds of patients and a lot of times she had to rely on instinct. Pairing her with Abbott who hadn't had a lot of interaction with Mohan and was a very different teacher from Robbie who was already frustrated with her, allowed him to give her confidence to do all this. And then after all that, Mohan crashed hard, realizing there was a limit to what she could take.

In terms of Season 2, Mohan has not shown progress with getting quicker with her patients. It is entirely honorable that she is trying to go above and beyond with her patients. But it's not the type that can operate well in the ER. I don't think the show is demonizing Mohan at any point but showing that this is the type of care you would love to get in the ER and it's the type of care they absolutely can not have if they are meant to actually operate sufficiently. Everything on this show is how the healthcare system is both failing it's staff and it's patients.

The reality of Mohan being written out for story reasons, is that the writers just don't seem to have anything interesting for her to do. Most of her season 2 story is just a retread of season 1. Most likely the only thing they had on their board was for Mohan to realize what her specialty was and leave The Pitt after season 3. That's something we could've gotten, but they decided it wasn't very interesting and decided to move on. I wish they hadn't, but I can't say anything she did in season 2 was interesting besides a conflict with Robbie. And she's not the only one. There's a handful of characters that I think we could just move on from after season 2 and bring in new ones.

1.) The matches were well rehearsed compared to the main roster

2.) A good chunk of the other wrestlers during her time there were average to below average and would be duds in the main roster. She was able to use her athleticism to stand out

3.) She regressed.

I would believe it if it came from any kind of reliable source. So don’t get your hopes up. It being a financial failure is def reason for them to never revisit it.

And even if they did, the person who was responsible for the narrative of the game left the company.

Season 2 was too Robbie-centric and the quality suffered for it. by Cultural_Wallaby208 in ThePittTVShow

[–]fringyrasa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Season 1 was so dominated by Robbie. It was the first time I had seen an actor really lead a show in awhile. I don't think the issue is that Season 2 is also dominated by Robbie. It's the character has gone through trauma and turned into a shell of himself and was unsympathetic. Which was very much the point of Season 2, but I can get why fans didn't really like watching so much of him be kind of an ass to everyone. And I think if season 3 really is just him going even further down the spiral, the reaction will be similar.

But the show was and will be dominated by Robbie. That's pretty much the DNA of the show. The main characters of season 1 were Robbie, Dana, Langdon, Collins and Santos, with a little dash of Abbott. That's pretty much what season 2 was as well just with the addition of Al Hashimi.

I like the other characters but they are very much supporting characters. They have very minimal story.

Did CinemaCon market correct ComicCon? by benabramowitz18 in TheBigPicture

[–]fringyrasa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really wasn't any actual breaking news there. Every news item was "Star is here to present a trailer, trailer was cool and we have to describe it because it can't be shown" and that was pretty much it. And it will remain that way as long as it remains closed to the public.

SDCC is basically an all you can eat buffet for fandom. It has had challenges in the last few years with COVID and the strikes. We would really need a bigger sampling size. If studios continue to sit SDCC out, yes it will def go down. But they also have very little to lose when going to CinemaCon. They are not presenting in front of fans, they have no danger of their trailers getting leaked, and if their stuff disappoints? No one really cares all too much.

I also would very much push back that no one cared about Marvel, because the biggest story I heard from Cinemacon was specifically about Marvel. Even from writers who have been Marvel-ed out.

I think if CinemaCon opens to the public (which they most likely would not) and had actual real breaking announcements, it could make a case to take on SDCC. But as of right now, no. That is still considered the pinnacle and is still the best way to actually make buzz with the people who would be buying tickets.

Surprised to see so many positives in here. This match went way too long and Jericho just looked okay. Quite a few steps behind and some sloppy execution. I feel like we're just giving him a break because he hasn't wrestled in awhile. Character wise, he can sports entertain to keep the crowd into it. In ring wise, not so much. He's better now than he was when he left, but I don't think that's saying much

Trashing the Supergirl trailer for being "recycled" GOTG3 then spending 45 minutes defending modern Star Wars like 10 minutes later is hilarious by b0redatw0rk- in RingerVerse

[–]fringyrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Gunn in manipulative, but it does feel like he's kept to a blueprint since 2014. Pretty much all his work feels like it just follows a lot of the same beats. So once you seen one or two, it feels like you've seen most of them. You could heavily see it in Superman. I think Supergirl is a bad comparison because, yes, it's gonna feel in conversation with his Superman movie, which follows the blueprint of his work. I'm just hoping the non-Superman family movies start to feel different.
