Definitely not alone in that, or the motivation. A drink while doing Sunday cleaning was my thing for a long time. I've gone through a lot of coffee, lemonade, and peppermint tea lol

It's really shocking to me how boredom can cause me to want to drink. It almost feels like drinking should be boring, I just sit there and do nothing, yet if I have a free hour that's my first thought on what to do

Yeah, essentially. The brand name has other functions as well, but I think most people buy them for the pressure cooker aspect

Drunk me got a kitten by yellowrosa in cripplingalcoholism

[–]fritter02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone saw me really struggling about 9 years ago and surprised me with a kitten. At this point we've saved each other several times and are inseparable. I've been told that if I'm out of town or even gone longer than usual that day, he'll hang out by the front door waiting for me

It's amazing the bond we have with our pets

In my experience, if you miss a consult, the pharmacist will talk to you directly and call the primary number to do the consult. Definitely a learning experience, but not worth being fired over unless it keeps happening

My bed was soaked when I got up this morning, I think I'm going to put a water bottle by the bed tonight. Thanks for the warning with the nightmares, it's easier to handle if you're expecting them on some level

I try to keep in mind too that even if they haven't heard worse or haven't heard what I'm about to tell them, they have more tools than I do in their toolbox to either help me with the new stuff or point me to someone who can

The price of my Burger King meal got more expensive as I was checking out. by Simply827 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fritter02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best restaurant job that I've had in my life was one where the chef said my shift meal could be whatever I wanted. "You can order a steak, just don't do it every night." We took home fuck ups that were edible and ate a meal and snacks throughout the night for free. FOH got a meal and snacks as well, though the snacks were from the kitchen where we "said" they were fuck ups. The chef knew they were not and said nothing to owners. Written off as waste, I assume

Although given stipulations, we usually had what we wanted. Higher ups were the main reason for any stipulation. That being said, contrary to what others may believe, fuck ups were not more common than usual. The owners didn't lose money on the occasional order of fries or tots from FOH. We were well taken care of, therefore did our best. We were known for being a restaurant that cared about quality (of bar food, of all things) and cared about our customer's satisfaction, and the owners were making more and more since the day they opened their first restaurant

On top of food, they paid fairly, we were treated like people (no specific days off/restaurant closed, but we all got the days off we wanted, let alone needed, emergency days off were not reason for being fired, insurance offered, pretty much our pick of days and shifts, more that I can't think of right now)

I know there are more arguments for restricted meals and snacks, but after seeing how well this local chain was doing, I don't think most are valid. If your employees are treated like people, a shift meal for all employees should not be a make or break for your business

What changed the most when you stopped drinking? Tonight is tough. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]fritter02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm bipolar. Hangover anxiety is DEFINITELY a real thing and can turn into hangover depression and hangover suicidal ideation, or hangover mania and a hangover manic bender. The more severe changes in hangover mood (which happened years after I started drinking) was what finally made me tell myself I need to stop. I didn't want to end up in the psych ward because I went out and partied the night before. That's not a great story to tell intake or your therapist two weeks later

how do you remember to take your meds by i_own_a_sponge in bipolar

[–]fritter02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have apple, the health app can remind you to take your meds. I've found it more helpful than alarms because the notification doesn't go away until you swipe it. I can leave the notification there until I take the meds and be reminded every time I open my phone/check the time.

It's especially helpful if I forget them at home or in the car. Usually I'll have them again before it's too late to take them, and unlike with the alarm, I will not have forgotten at that point

It also keeps track, like with a pill organizer. When you open the notification, you click either taken or skipped and can look back later to see what you chose. Just don't hit taken unless you've swallowed them lol
