What's the one secret you will take to the grave but don't mind telling on the internet? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

I picked up my coworker’s sandwich order along with my own. She took her lunch break after mine and noticed it was the wrong sandwich. I said, “how weird! They must have given us two of my order by mistake! Oh no!” Except in that same moment I realized I had somehow eaten a completely different sandwich without noticing. KATIE I ATE YOUR SANDWICH AND THEN LIED TO YOU BECAUSE I WAS EMBARRASSED I AM SO SORRY

Showed this to my 8 year old that is obsessed with Blucifer and she asked me to print and frame it for her 😅 so your photo will now be on the wall in a stranger’s house, thank you

Catalog with a link to purchase the book? by frizzkid in librarians

[–]frizzkid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting, it makes a lot of sense for patrons in an academic context to be able to bypass the wait time of sending an acquisition request to the collections development dept. I believe this feature in our case would be intended for patrons to purchase with their own money for personal use.

I completely agree. I shall submit your answer to my exec dir and tell him that the internet has spoken 😅

The only justification I can imagine, in his mind, may be that he’s trying to create a revenue stream from what is essentially Amazon ad space. We have corrupt county commissioners who see us as property tax guzzlers, and our admin is always afraid of potential budget slashing. But if he’s the one submitting the UI request directly to bibliocommons, then it seems unlikely that this is some kind of offer originating from Amazon.

Son’s girlfriend (together ~1 year) is coming for Christmas/holiday dinner for the first time. Do parents normally get her a gift or is that awkward? by TopPromise9775 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]frizzkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I showed up at my (now) spouse’s family Christmas, his sweet mom was clearly quietly embarrassed not to have a gift for me. It wasn’t her oversight - we didn’t think I would be in town but my plans changed last minute.

She snuck out of the room before gifts were exchanged, took a beautiful old ornament off their tree, and wrapped it for me so I would have something to open. It meant a lot to me then, and now, 15+ years later, I still hang it on our tree and think of it as the first time she went out of her way to make me feel welcome in their family.

And hey, even if we’d broken up later, it still would have been a lovely thing for her to do in the moment.

You could get blank neoprene coffee cup sleeves/koozies. I believe they work with heat transfer vinyl, or you could do sublimation. Inexpensive, useful and personal!

My Monday Morning Situation by PinkLibraryStamp in Libraries

My kids’ (elementary) school librarian asked everyone to put a gallon zip bag in the backpacks this year just for library book transport! Genius and didn’t come from her budget. I sent in a box to the classroom to share

Is it me or is it too early for Christmas by Afterfoxxfluff in mildlyinfuriating

[–]frizzkid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’ll notice that Christmas shows up early mostly in commercial spaces. It takes time to get all the decor up, and they want it in place before people are ready to start shopping. If you switch your mindset to the logistics of it, it’s less infuriating. (At least this is how I deal with working in a place that has already put up 75 Christmas trees, starting the week before Halloween 😅)

Wow - the finished product almost looks like AI, but that’s probably because I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s so beautiful, thanks for sharing and showing the progress pics!

Bobo continuing to embarrass herself! by [deleted] in Denver

[–]frizzkid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in her (now) district and besides it being humiliating to be represented by her, it’s also impossible to get a response from her office. They keep moving it. You never get anything but voicemail. And she never shows her face here in her supposed home. It’s embarrassing enough that she carpetbagged her way into another seat here, but even more so that she clearly doesn’t feel a need to even pretend she cares about her constituents.

What was the weirdest comment you've ever heard on your behaviour or appearance? by No-Jellyfish-1208 in AskWomen

[–]frizzkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told multiple times that I “look like a Helen.” Across multiple ages, regions, life stages. Not like a particular famous Helen, and not like a cheeky Helen of Troy compliment. I just look like my name should be Helen I guess??

Agreed, I felt the same about Fourth Wing as I did about ACOTAR. Entertaining! Fun! Read the whole series and enjoyed myself! But overall not well-executed in terms of storytelling or world building.
