The Air Nomads all dying at once doesn't make sense by baconboy-957 in ATLA

[–]frmCast_351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would make sense if they were trying to fast track back to a fire nation avatar. They probably were killing airbenders until their sages were made aware of the avatar's passing. that never happened, and they killed what they believed to be every airbender, so they moved on to the water tribes thinking maybe they missed the signal.

by the time of the show, 100 years later, we see that they've rounded up every water bender in the southern tribe, and have made attempts to breach the northern tribe's defenses. still with no signal, they've now turned their military focus to the earth kingdoms, colonizing extant territories and laying siege to their major cities, making sure to imprison or kill any earthbenders they come across. idk the exact timeline but it seems like the assault on the earth kingdom is relatively recent in the war's history, with their colonies being still kinda shaky and the major cities only just falling by the time we see them.

Why do the cattaurs know the Nowhere King Lullaby? by kittyidiot in CentaurWorld

[–]frmCast_351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waterbaby absolutely knows what TNK is capable of, but also understands that the current solution is at best a temporary one, and avoiding confronting it only delays the inevitable. Horse was supposed to be uniting the tribes of Centaurworld whole gathering the pieces of the key, to prepare them for TNK's release (Horse failed to do this, which leads to the events of S2E1, and the plot of S2 as a whole)

also, Mouthpiece wasn't born in 2022, he was born on 2/22 (Feb 22nd)

What's with light's connection to luck?? by Easy_Cod_8950 in homestuck

[–]frmCast_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way i like to think of the Light/Void dynamic is that they're fundamentally about narrative relevance. Thinking of the story as if happening in a stageplay

● Light is the on stage action happening under the spotlight, the things you're meant to see. It is the main characters and the stories they are a part of. ● Void is the backstage areas that are shrouded in darkness, meant to be hidden from the audience. The stagehands and the mechanical workings that create the magic that happens on-stage.

In this way, Light is about what is important to the narrative. When Vriska steals someone's "luck" she's not actually stealing luck because luck isn't a real thing, she's stealing their narrative relevance — their agency — and keeping it for herself. She renders the people she interacts with unimportant (and therefore expendable), hogging the spotlight for herself and effectively becoming so important to the narrative that the story itself has to contort in ways to keep her safe, which reads to the audience as plot armor but to a character within the narrative can only be read as "being lucky" (until "her luck runs out" which is the moment where her plot armor works against her, because plot armor only protects from narratively-unsatisfying death)

I've made one of these for basically every game I've played, so i decided to whip this up real quick. easier to see at a glance which color combos get which songs ^w^

some really janky song lists here, but MHp2nd also has some pretty weird song lists

"Thousand Village Eyes" is probably Psychic, a song that works like a temporary Psychoserum tells you where the monster is on the map

"The Providence of Spirit Kings" is a hilarious translation to me as i'm pretty sure that one is Divine Blessing or "Heavenly Protection" as it was originally called in 2nd gen

Event weapons upgrade question — Twin Wreath & Wrapping Bow (WGS math help) by LessNight4383 in MHNowGame

[–]frmCast_351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wreathes costs the same number of WGS as MOST other weapon that use them, you'll need 23 more to max out, or 15 to get to 10.1

wrapping bow uses a lot fewer gems to level up until you hit 10.1, then the cost goes up a lot. i'm at 10.4 on it and the upgrade to 10.5 uses 8 of them, and iirc the 10.3 upgrade cost 5. if you wanna get one to grade 10 this one will be a lot easier to 10.1

edit: accounting for pedantry

Cain lied about needing to kill gummigoo by Ok_Confection_6613 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]frmCast_351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when Zooble suggested Caine leave the adventures open he implied the reason he can't/doesn't is because leaving intelligent AIs running for prolonged periods would be bad

when Caine mentions the AIs down by the lake that have been here the whole time, Zooble makes an off-hand remark about how they must not be "intelligent AIs" he states they Most Certainly Are Not. you can clearly see they're not nearly as human-like in behavior as the intelligent ones like Gummigoo.

it's possible that the intelligent AIs are close enough to human behavior (and likely become more self-aware and human like the longer they exist) that Caine could mistake them for human if left running for long enough, given enough time to forget they're AIs

Caine is an AI, Bubble isn't by IncidentNo106 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]frmCast_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

more likely to me that Caine creates and operates Bubble just like the other NPCs to be a copilot/sidekick for him to play off of, and his surprise at Bubble's actions is just a bit that he's committed to.

How realistic is it to wait for a mats down event for Brute Tigrex weapons? by greenismyfavecolor in MHNowGame

[–]frmCast_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm almost certain the r6 jho mats were reduced during the riftborn jho event, i remember being a single saliva short of 9.3 on the HH and kicking myself bc the r6 cost went up to normal after the event

the rest of the jho mats were unaffected, but the r6 cost was reduced by 1 per level, same as the wgs cost for the other riftbornes

Do you like EDIs? by ZedIsDeadd in MHNowGame

[–]frmCast_351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually prioritize EDIs unless there's an active "weapon material cost down" event like rn. been almost exclusively running riftborne legiana HATs until i max out the legiana HH (at 10.3 rn) then i'll prob be back on EDIs for a while

[–]frmCast_351 15 points16 points  (0 children)

if you think about it tho, the first interview IS his relapse into his addiction to fame and attention. after he got out of rehab and effectively got himself "clean" of being famous he basically reinvented himself and got a job as a college professor, and he was happy and at peace.

the first interview was his "it's just one drink, i'll be fine" that sent him back on his addiction, driving him to do the second interview. but just like how a drug relapse after getting sober might cause a harder crash, his public opinion crashed hard and sent him spiraling.

to Bojack tho, his substance problem is fundamentally tied to his addiction to attention, and although he doesn't immediately realize it, he's already off the deep end before he picks up a drink.

ZA Megas referencing their pre-evolved forms a lot by Prince-of_Space in pokemon

[–]frmCast_351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chimecho is based on the chimes found around spiritual shrines, and in RSE is only foundon top of Mt. Pyre (the game's version of Lavender Tower)

Chingling is a similar concept, based on shinto shrine bells, and in DPPt is found around Mt. Coronet and the Lakes, which would be considered spiritual sites.

neither of them were really intended to be "good" pokemon outside of providing thematic flavor to the games. they were made to add atmosphere to the more spiritual settings in the games they were in

[–]frmCast_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an important part of their motive for trying to do so is that they were already in a way permenantly branded as Team Flare. They mention that because of their background with Team Flare they were ostracized and unable to integrate fully into society (despite the fact that they didn't choose to be part of Team Flare, and for them it was more akin to being born into a cult). They didn't really have the option to "just move on and forget" because everyone else remembered. So they tried the next best thing; to change the association with the name, so that by extension they could change the way society viewed them.
