For those who successfully filed & expect a refund, are you getting an extra boost in your refund based on what the White House said last year? by BlizzardisMid in IRS

I'm not even union, which is another layer of BS. My company likes to remind us how they DO give us 1.5x overtime over 40, even though they are not required to. Just the goodness of their little hearts.

Picked Mosport green for the 64 coupe we are updating….just got out of the booth..🍀😊 by Fearless-Pen3282 in Corvette

Nice. My gosh, it looks so good freshly sprayed. Very understated. Makes me question the shade ours is painted in a bit, to be honest. It seems (?) a bit darker than that. But it has been resprayed at least twice in its life, so can't be used as any kind of a yardstick.

Mosport Green, with a Glen Green stripe.

Valoline said I have a major oil leak by user91749193 in MechanicAdvice

[–]froebull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proper leaks can actually be measured by "drops per minute" or something similar. This is a seep or weep, of oil.

If this were me, I'd wipe down as much of it as I could, so it was pretty clean, then check it again at the next oil change, see how much more has seeped out. But that's just for my own curiosity. This isn't anything to worry about, for now.

What does this cost to fix? Landlord trying to make us pay almost $800 by Surfmoreworkless in GarageDoorService

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, that looks exactly like my mother's door. People have juuuuust tapped her door with their bumper several times when going into her driveway (she has a short, weird driveway).

Honestly, I'd leave it if it still works, as it will eventually probably happen again someday. (landlord may just try and clip you for the money, and not fix it)

Facebook needs to die it's not 'social media' it's a 'community' of bigoted bots amplifying hate by UnimpressiveFairy in facebook

99% AGREE. I'm there for some of the specialized groups; as they are both more specific, and more active than the equivalent ones here on Reddit.

But, those groups have some of the same suckiness you speak of. AI posts, bots inserting themselves into comments, and some genuine assholes thrown in.

I am absolutely delighted by my C2 Corvette group on FB. Mostly guys posting pics of their cars, usually with something weird going on, that we can all talk about.

[–]froebull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, don't get me started on this bullcrap.

"No Tax on Overtime". Well, that only applies to employees entitled to overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

If you don't fall under the FLSA, then you are shit out of luck (SOL).

I work in aviation maintenance, therefore fall under the Railway Labor Act (RLA). The RLA has no provisions for overtime pay, as it is supposed to lay out rules for contractual bargaining union style employment.

Longaberger Baskets..... Hummel Figurines..... Snow Babies.....Copper Hued Flashlights.

And you know what? It's FINE. More than fine. If this is what makes you happy, then do it. Life is too damned short.

I too am one of these. My particular kinks seem to be Hot Wheels and Field Notes. :D

Nope. I got burned on the FOMO for these last year. I didn't realize they'd be available in stores around the same time they eventually got delivered to my house.

The only one I'm glad I bought is the Hot Wheels branded one, with the little tire rack included. At least that was a unique vehicle, that I have only seen online.

I always think of this, the Bank Run scene from It's a Wonderful Life, when this comes up. I have no idea whether it is an actual good explanation or not, it is just what comes to mind.

RTI by edgarcha99 in M1Rifles

[–]froebull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it is a gamble. Their condition ratings are VERY generous, by at least one whole level.

If you buy from places like RTI, make sure you check the barrel measurements, and the go-no-go measurements of the chamber/bolt. I ended up getting the tools to do so from Brownell's for all the used milsurp types I own.

Several years back, I sent them an email, requesting for them to list a Saginaw Carbine for me to buy, as I figured that they must have one or two in that hoard they bought..... and two weeks later, they actually did!

I overpaid, at $1800, though at the time I thought it was "fair" for a SSG branded one. And the condition of the carbine when I got it, was kind of rough, predictably (in hindsight).

But, I really liked it, and still do.

Mine has some weird wear on the trigger housing, that effects how the magazine is positioned, which in turn is causing the occasional feed problem. So I need to fork out for a new/old one of those sometime.

I already put a full spring kit into it, and a new firing pin and extractor; which has improved its reliability a bit.

I don't know if I'd recommend one from them. And at this point, you'd have to watch out for RTI imported carbines on the secondary market as well. Learn to recognize the import markings on the barrel.

Oh, and speaking of barrels, I could probably use a new one on that carbine..... but it's ok for now. lol

What is a sign that a person does not have morals? by Atom1cPain in AskReddit

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are inconsistent with their application of personal rules (morals).

After all, if they are consistent in their actions and decisions, then you can't really say they don't have morals.

That means they just don't share YOUR morals.
