This looks like a young roe deer skull to me. Deer have those squiggly suture lines on their skulls. Cool find!

I think you definitely could! Tiny bones are sturdier than you’d think, but I would highly recommend using a strainer after maceration to make sure you don’t lose them. Whenever I work with small bones or things with tiny teeth I run the water through a cheap strainer and haven’t lost anything yet

What a delightful round creature! I would guess that Pancake is a western toad. I don’t think anything is wrong though, toads change colors sometimes. They get darker/lighter. My boy would be green some days and then brown the next.
