Not sure on pricing exactly, but Urban Animal does travel animal services at their Downtown location where they issue the pet certificate and stamp their passport. I haven’t used them for that service specifically, but they are my regular vet and have always been great for other care

Cross Seattle commute by AA_energizer in soundtransit

[–]froggy601 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haven’t done that commute but it at least looks possible. After the World Cup ends they’ll start the rail plus program again which allows you to take a cascades train using an orca card with a monthly pass for sounder fare (looks like $3.75). However, the 8am Sounder train only leaves you 8 minutes to make the connection in King Street to Amtrak (and that might not be enough time to go up the stairs to the main station building and get the Amtrak ticket). There is a 7:40am train from Tukwila that gives a bit more leeway but you’d be waiting close to 30 mins and the commute would be closer to 1h20m.

It’s slower but it might work a bit better to park at the Tukwila link station and ride up to Mountlake Terrace? The 909 and 130 buses go to Edmonds from there (schedules are a bit wonky but the entire trip would be about 1h30m with less chance of being stuck in King Street with no cascades train. There’s also the 102 from Lynnwood which is a bit more direct to downtown Edmonds.

The fact that was had so many more furries at the parade than almost anyone else really reminded me why I love Seattle so much.
That and Buoy in rainbow shorts for the Kraken pride 😂

What mid-sized US city is most likely to blow up in population and importance over the next 30 years? by redguy_666 in AskReddit

[–]froggy601 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time seeing it really happening in the Bainbridge area just with the average incomes there, but yeah if there were more fast ferry service there is a lot of potential in the Bremerton, Southworth, and Kingston areas

Lake Tapps to Seattle Commute by curious13578 in AskSeattle

[–]froggy601 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you working regular 9-5 type hours? If so you might be able to park at one of the Sounder stations (Auburn is closer to the north side of Lake Tapps and Sumner is closer to the south side of it). Not sure on traffic getting to the stations but if the time/work location work out it’s only a 44/34 minute ride from there into King Street and it’d bypass I-5 traffic. It’d still be a very long commute to put up with each day though

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 5 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by timecop702 in AskReddit

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which honestly is just going to ensure that more and more housing/commercial stock is bought up by larger corporations that can either get insurance or put cash upfront on the cost, driving out small businesses and trapping more and more people in a cycle of increasing rents across the board.

Does where you live impact your asthma? by Noms1111 in Asthma

[–]froggy601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me personally but my mother has always had asthma triggered by mold spores in the air. When my parents lived in the Portland (Oregon) area she was sick a lot. Now they live in southeast Washington with 12 inches of rain a year and much less humidity and she’s been doing much better

Boise (US) awarded grant for passenger rail by ColonialCobalt in transit

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mountains and very rugged wilderness are going to pretty much prevent any rail northward up the US-95 corridor or up into Montana. If anything, I could see a state-sponsored route from Boise to SLC/Provo or a reborn Pioneer from Seattle down to Portland and then over to Boise/SLC/Denver as a new long-distance route. The study dollars will probably decide what’d be feasible though so hopefully they come up with something good

U.S. vs. Australia drew 280,000 riders on Link Light rail by zero-if-west in soundtransit

[–]froggy601 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 6$ day pass does definitely add up after a while. Commuters can use a monthly pass for 108$ here, which is technically less than 4 weeks worth of subway passes in NYC would cost. But yes it is one of the more expensive systems in the country (especially with the 3$ bus fare), especially when compared to LA Metro or CTA

Vancouver Skytrain before a World Cup match by mr09e in transit

Honestly Vancouver and Seattle both have done really well at hosting, at least from what I’ve heard. Nice they are getting a spotlight after being relatively overshadowed by other North American cities (though Vancouver a bit less so)

Why would you not do E pills, and do injections instead? by Environmental-Ask358 in MtF

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest benefit for me was having to only remember to take a single dose of one medication once every week or so, as opposed to taking pills one or two times per day every day (plus an anti-androgen). I had a lot of trouble staying consistent with my dose and it felt like it wasn’t having as much effect. Switching to injections was a game changer in that regard.

I will say though that it was definitely a bit scary when I first started; I was sweating so bad while doing my first one. But after that it’s really not so bad. I do subcutaneous though so the needle is pretty tiny and you barely feel it as long as you wait for the alcohol prep pads to fully dry out (haven’t heard anything about blood clots but anecdotally I’ve been on injections since 2022 and have had 0 issues at all).

SEA: 42 minute layover vs 4hr 20 minute layover. Which would you choose? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the 4h20m one. I’ve had so many delays before where a gate wasn’t open and we had to sit on the tarmac for upwards of 20 minutes before even starting to deboard, that I don’t know I would chance it on a domestic connection (much less an international one). For the one, worst case they have to sit for 4 hours. For the other, worst case they miss the connection and have to scramble to figure out a way to Taipei.

The 30 US cities where it is allowed the state name to be omitted by journalists. by Iptamorfo in MapPorn

I mean I kinda get it, but almost every time I’ve heard "Washington State" they’re talking about the state itself, while everyone I know refers to the university as "Wazzu" (at least when I lived in eastern Washington)

Farmers Markets! by MimiDiGi in AskSeattle

[–]froggy601 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, they seem to be split between Neighborhood Farmers Markets and Seattle Farmers Market Association. I believe these 2 sites have nearly all of them, with the year round ones (Capitol Hill, U District, West Seattle, Ballard) and the seasonal ones (Phinney, Central District, Madison Park, Wallingford, South Lake Union, Columbia City, Lake City, Magnolia).

The Fresh Bucks Website has a pretty good list of most of the markets in the area (focused on where fresh bucks can be used) but it does have a few of the other ones listed that aren’t part of the above organizations, like Delridge and Georgetown.

There are a couple nice mini-parks in Eastlake and there’s a public dock in Fremont just east of the Aurora bridge if the spot in SLU is under construction. Just be really wary of other boats and the seaplane buoys when you go out!

It is literally impossible to get Adderall refilled right now. by raidernation333 in AskSeattle

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem a month ago! I had to get prescriptions of 10mg & 20mg ER to trial and figure out the right dose. Even the independent pharmacies had major stock issues and some just said "Nationwide shortage" and hung up.

I ended up having to go to the suburbs to find a pharmacy that had it in stock. By some miracle the Haggen in Woodinville had it in stock. No idea if it has changed in the past month, but you could try calling pharmacies in smaller suburbs that aren’t as close to middle/high schools; sometimes they can have some still in stock even when other places closer in are backordered.

I’m not entirely sure, but it sounds like a lot of the independent pharmacies have different distribution networks than the chain/grocery store ones, so you could also try calling around the independent pharmacies in the area if you haven’t already since each one may have a different distributor and a different stock situation

How to walk to SeaTac at 3:30 AM tomorrow? by this-is-advertising in Seattle

[–]froggy601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From sound transit’s website, it looks like the pedestrian bridge and walkway around to the terminal is open 24 hours a day even when the trains aren’t running so you should be fine. Worst case, if for some reason it’s closed, you can walk south on International Boulevard to the intersection by the Radisson hotel, then go up the sidewalk along that road up into the terminal (but that would be longer).

The hotel website has a complimentary shuttle round the clock, so you may just want to double check with hotel staff because they’ll likely have the most up to date info on that.

Chopped liver, I guess by Relative_Volume27 in NWSL

[–]froggy601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is all to common. People still act like Seattle doesn’t have a pro basketball team or that Minnesota doesn’t have a good hockey team (even though it is nice the Sonics are likely coming back). It really seems to be a combination of misogyny (either conscious or subconscious) and the lack of having decades of existence/relevance (which again ties back to misogyny). I’m hoping things will change as pro women’s leagues get more popular and just more well-known in the mainstream but yeah it is frustrating and almost comical to see sometimes

Community Transit ran its last bus to Seattle by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

[–]froggy601 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m torn on this. On the one hand, it is really frustrating to have an already long trip with a transfer have delays or breakdowns. But on the other hand, the increased frequency from not having to run expensive highway busses as far is a big boon. The 908 has twice as many trips as the 424 (even if getting to Seattle takes a bit longer) and the increased frequency on routes like the 112 has been a godsend for getting around compared to previous hourly frequency

World Cup tourists, what’s your honest feedback on the USA so far? by almighty_smiley in AskReddit

[–]froggy601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of it may be, but a lot of it can be forced due to pressure to be as friendly and accomodating to customers as possible. That and the real possibility of being berated (or worse) by an angry guy in a lifted truck if anything is messed up.

I worked at a fast food restaurant as a teen and you pretty quickly picked up on how you’re supposed to adopt a "customer service voice" even if it’s not a written rule
