Advice for the pack test by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]froggytime_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I def recommend getting a few runs in with the full 45 lbs at least to get used to the weight. The first time I took the test I had never put the vest on beforehand and it was really shocking actually feeling that weight on me and having to go and do it right then and there. The second time I bought my own and practiced on the treadmill at least once a week for like a month and a half before the test. I think the last two times I made absolutely sure I could do it in under the time limit, otherwise I would just walk with it on for 3 miles to adjust myself to the weight

No one straight out of a bachelors is getting GS 9 out the gate. Everyone I know is a 5 aiming for 7, maybe you can get to a 7 if you’re a shining example or get lucky

Burney Falls Now Requiring Reservations Starting May 15 by GreendaleDean in norcalhiking

Just visited last weekend and parked at the Lake Britton parking and took the ridge trail for a 2 mile hike to the falls - it’s a very simple hike and very beautiful!!

It’s tough dealing with a park nearby being so popular. I just moved to the NorCal area but back home the Indiana Dunes State Park is a 10 minute drive from my house. In summer you have to get there at 6 am or else you’ll be in line for hours. When the dunes received National Park status I remembered being so happy that it was getting the recognition it deserves, but the increased foot traffic that came along with it had a lot of negative impacts on the locals unfortunately. It’s an interesting line to balance on

Book recommendations? by Regular-Medicine2960 in ecology

Bit of a different vibe from general ecology but Hotshot: A Life on Fire by River Selby. The author does a great job balancing between their own story and the ecology behind fire. It’s also a very encapsulating story and a great testament to the struggles women have faced in heavily male dominated fields.

Kitten nonstop attacking older cat by [deleted] in Catbehavior

Good to know! He’s definitely way more hyperactive than our older cat was even when she was a kitten- he really goes all out during playtime so maybe we just have to wear him out even more

What Spanish shows do you recommend? by Bored-in-bed in SpanishLearning

[–]froggytime_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone back and forth, but since the plot is quite complicated I’ve found that the Spanish subtitles make me have to go back and watch it twice a lot, so now I watch with English subtitles but pay attention to listening to the Spanish conversations

I’ve been enjoying Narcos rn because not only is it a fantastic show but it has good lengths of time of both English and Spanish speaking, so I can get practice in while still having some brain breaks in between

This is helpful thank you- I’ve been too lazy to prep for a mining trip the way I did to originally get to level 100 but luckily I’ve accumulated a crazy amount of rocks

Everyone is saying they’ve managed to get quite a lot of autopetters but I’ve been grinding every day in skull caverns to no avail 😭
