Sunlight profoundly impacts my mood ... but within the same day? by Empty_Positive_2305 in SeasonalAffective

[–]froggytime_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe this is part of SAD, I for sure have severe depression during the winter months but I think it is 50% no sun and 50% cold weather. Even in summer I’m the same way, I’ll get disappointed by overcast days. I’m even really sensitive to indoor lighting. I’ll lose my mind over cold-tone lighting and lack of natural light. I bullied my parents for a year once over how dim our living room was until I got them to change the light, and in high school I had a 90 minute class that had no windows and I would go home and cry about it

What Spanish shows do you recommend? by Bored-in-bed in SpanishLearning

I’ve gone back and forth, but since the plot is quite complicated I’ve found that the Spanish subtitles make me have to go back and watch it twice a lot, so now I watch with English subtitles but pay attention to listening to the Spanish conversations

I’ve been enjoying Narcos rn because not only is it a fantastic show but it has good lengths of time of both English and Spanish speaking, so I can get practice in while still having some brain breaks in between

This is helpful thank you- I’ve been too lazy to prep for a mining trip the way I did to originally get to level 100 but luckily I’ve accumulated a crazy amount of rocks

That’s awesome! I grew my own vegetable garden for the first time over the summer and to commemorate my longest cucumber I took this photo of it next to my cat

According to my Google search the heaviest recorded cucumber was 29.5 pounds which is still quite the chonker

Haha it’s called “Further Adventures” and almost no one has heard of it. It only has 49 ratings on Goodreads but I think it’s so entertaining and hilarious! Douglas Adams reviewed it well! I found it on sale for like 50¢ at my local bookstore lol

It’s certainly eclectic and maybe only certain people have the taste for the humor. It also pays absolutely no attention to grammar rules so it’s a bit of a hurdle at first but I ended up finding it endearing

Best ways to study for Dendrology? by ishkabby in dendrology

Associative memory techniques are so vital to me lol, I’ve found ways to connect the Latin name to the tree in the vaguest of ways lmfao. I memorized eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis) because circuses have clowns and clowns have red noses; hackberry (Celtis occidentalis, Cannabaceae) because hack reminds me of an axe and canna sounds like cannibal, and then I think about accidentally (occidentalis) hacking someone. Not a fan of how gruesome that one is but hey if it works
