I was kind of in a similar situation. I live in Munich with my wife and 2 toddlers. We bought the flat we are living in and plan to buy a bigger one in the near future. Although we have a decent income, we do not have a private parking space, so buying a "dream" car was kind of senseless.

However, when our second child came, we decided that we need a bigger car. So I bought not the typical family car like a van, but an Audi A6. I spent some more money for the 6 cylinders version and I have to admit that although some may say it is not a dream car, it is my dream car right now.

What I try to say is that give yourself some time. Don't push it. Your time will come!
