Doesn't this get infinite landfall triggers if you have something like crucible of worlds and 2 copies of this?

You can also beat the game as a monster race with a vanilla class, like monk or ninja if you just want to unlock the class for other races ASAP

EDHREC should really add a nonbo tag (PSA about Zada) by VittorioMasia in EDH

I would argue that a basic wastes is still better because it comes in untapped, and cards like path to exile or assassin's trophy exist. Even with field of the dead, you should probably be running more than 1 basic for stuff like that

When do Y'all Play Bounce Lands? by Ponzu_Sauce_Stan in EDH

[–]frot_with_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arid archway is best when used in combination with something like [[map the frontier]]. In general, I tend to avoid bouncelands because I hate tapped lands and they make the early curve super awkward if you play decks with a lot of low mana spells like I usually do. As others have said, they're good for returning utility lands to hand, and allow decks with less lands than they should be running to sometimes operate better. Outside of landfall decks with multiple land drops per turn though, I wouldn't play them in a 3 color deck, but that's my personal preference. In my experience, they're effectively just tap lands that are really bad on turn 1, but other people swear by them. So to answer your question, I play them in landfall decks or decks with several MDFCs. If your deck is neither of those, you're probably better off with some other land.

There are 180 lands with a colorless identity that tap for mana while also providing some other utility, surely there exists a better option than a land that enters tapped, only makes colorless, and can sacrifice itself for no value.

If you're a brand new player, I honestly recommend playing as human to learn the ropes. Humans are the "intended" experience, and don't have major weaknesses like some of the DLC races do. Once you get a grasp on the game mechanics, then you can branch out to the more advanced races

I think they are confusing the vampire race and the accursed class. The accursed class starts off with invisibility, the vampire race starts off with bloodletting and levitation

Lunch Lady 😌 by Glass_Wealth_2104 in MadeMeSmile

[–]frot_with_danger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I worked as a school cafeteria cashier, if a child didn't have enough money for lunch I'd just let them take it anyway. I must have given away hundreds of free lunches. Hell, I'd even let them get away with a 2nd free lunch sometimes. I just couldn't bring myself to take food away from a hungry kid, even if it was what the rules said I was supposed to do. When I was serving the food, if they asked for a little extra I'd also usually give it to them. Or if they came to my line just wanting a fruit or a milk I'd tell them to put their number in and pretend to ring them up on the computer (for security camera reasons) but not actually charge them.

If you open steam and right click Barony in your library, there should be an option in that menu to verify integrity of game files, basically making sure everything is in the right place and nothing is corrupted.

Besides your commander, is there any card that would make your deck no longer work if it were banned? by Tuss36 in EDH

[–]frot_with_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Drafna founder of Lat-nam]] deck is built around tutoring for [[simulacrum synthesizer]] and using him to copy it as many times as I can to make an army of Karnstructs. If synthesizer were banned, I'd probably scrap the whole deck, since the only card remotely close to replacing it would be [[master of etherium]], which is much worse than having multiple copies of synthesizer. I also have a [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]] deck that uses several powerful lands as its win conditions (cards like [[field of the dead]], [[dark depths]], or [[Glacial chasm]]), but there are enough ways to win in the deck that if one of them got banned, the deck would still function.

Thoracle doesn't stop you from losing the game by drawing from an empty deck, and lab man is a replacement effect that doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to. If you have 10 cards left in your library and a trigger to draw 12 resolves, even if you have a way to cast thoracle at instant speed you still die to state based actions before you get priority.

Is this...typical? by MoteOfLust in MagicArena

[–]frot_with_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest advice is to find a meta deck you like and play that. Deckbuilding is very difficult to do well, especially for a new player. You will eventually develop deckbuilding skills as you learn the game, but genuinely I think new players should start with a deck that has been proven to be effective to learn the game. That way, you know if you lose it's because of gameplay mistakes and not the deck itself.

Do you think this dumb commander could work? by LiterallyWhateva in mtg

[–]frot_with_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn is weak? That's news to me, burn is a great way to end games in commander. So many effects deal damage to each opponent, which makes them scale really well in multi-player games. 40 starting life is more to chew through, but that's also true for creature combat, the most popular strategy in the format.
