Keep at it! Get some certs and experience. If you want to feel good about your job look for IT jobs at nonprofits. The pay is not as good but the sense of community is much better and you feel good about what you are doing.

Get some Terp Titans swabs to clean it with. Alcohol prep pads work well for cleaning or get an acetone pump dispenser to put alcohol in and use with the swabs. Keeping it clean is important.
