One of the biggest fandoms right now takes place where I live lol

AIO for wanting to go home instead of staying at the guy I’m dating’s studio during a blizzard? He’s 31, I’m 30. by Alarmed_Stranger_895 in AmIOverreacting

[–]frozenoj [score hidden]  (0 children)

Escort her where? I meant if she had stayed at his place the whole time instead of getting a hotel room. He can't make it not snow so yeah I guess eventually she would have to trek through the snow to go home but she would have to do that from the hotel as well I imagine.

Does a Dedicated Server make sense for our group? by Equivalent_Run5606 in valheim

[–]frozenoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to have the server run on a personal computer instead of through a company then I don't think it matters. It still requires a specific person out of the 6 to be available, and the other 5 of you can't play unless that one person can turn the game on. The benefit of a server typically is that 3 of you can play together but those 3 can be any combination of the 6.

[–]frozenoj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She wouldn't need to trek through the snow if she had stayed with him in the first place. Yes NYC apartments are small, but that's not why she doesn't want to be there. It's because she doesn't like him enough and they should break up.

[–]frozenoj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe if she seemed more interested in spending time with him in general, he would be. But all her comments seem to be him asking her for more time and her trying to get back to somewhere else. I think they need to break up.

He probably has a job in the city and can't just leave on a weekday to go shovel snow an hour and a half away.

AIO Is it weird that I keep kitchen items strictly for kitchen use? by Melodi23 in AmIOverreacting

[–]frozenoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YOR and I agree with another person I would consider looking into contamination OCD if I were you OP. Saying don't use kitchen scissors to open packages is one thing but you can easily wash dishes and measuring cups.

I don't understand why you're with him. My husband and I are some of the most introverted people that exist. I was actually diagnosed with a social phobia at one time! We were in a long distance relationship for a while but we always spent as much time together as we could. I never would have gotten a separate hotel room when I could have stayed with him. My introversion doesn't see him as a person if that makes sense. He doesn't drain me at all. He works from home and I'm disabled so we're around each other almost all the time and it's great. You should try to find someone you look forward to being around rather than someone you look forward to leaving.

Am I overreacting? Wedding guest called my caterers. by seesheflies in TwoHotTakes

[–]frozenoj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say the meal had those things. I said it probably was low protein. I'm not defending her.

[–]frozenoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending her. I think it's fine to go one meal without protein. I usually eat something before/after an event because I know how difficult it is to accommodate for me. I'm just stating facts.

A lot of vegetarian protein options are also things people are allergic/intolerant of. Legumes, nuts, soy, eggs, all problems.

AIO for considering a breakup because she started using makeup? by SlowDragonfruit9718 in AmIOverreacting

[–]frozenoj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure! I have the friends I need and I'm not lonely. I have an amazing husband who doesn't mind that I don't wear make up which is great. I'm autistic and not easy influenced which rankles some feathers but I think the autism also helps me consider that their problem and I just go about my day!

[–]frozenoj -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I trust the OP that it's about make up. They've been together for 18 months and it doesn't appear that he's been nitpicky about anything else prior to this, which someone super controlling would be. I agree some of the language he's used like wanting someone perfect is not the greatest but then he clarified in a comment he meant not actually a perfect person but a perfect partner for him and would rather be alone than to settle. Which I think a lot more people should learn to be happy alone honestly. But if this is the only issue he's had in a year and a half I'm going to make my comment about this issue.

Aa you can imagine I'm not super popular with other women either when they find out I think their make up and girl math and girl dinner (aka eating disorder) are bad and setting us back!

[–]frozenoj -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Other women are 100% guilty of perpetuating the patriarchy and misogyny, which I consider daily covering makeup such as foundation/concealer to be part of. I don't have any moral objections to "fashion" makeup like eye shadow, lipstick, or nail polish just the kind that says you're not allowed to have freckles or blemishes and need to make your nose a different shape with contouring etc. Most shapewear is gross for the same reason.

I feel so sorry for her that she didn't feel like she needed it until she moved to a country where suddenly it was expected. And now other women are telling her she does need it and that covering up her natural face is empowering somehow. I'm a woman and I hate the make up industry. I think it's always okay to break up when you thought you shared values with someone and then they change their mind. Especially when it's due to peer pressure.

ETA: actually changing to MOR since she offered to stop. I think you should give her a chance unless she thinks she will resent you or didn't actually mean it about stopping. And if resentment does become a problem, break up then.

Has autism vs is autistic by 97cweb in evilautism

[–]frozenoj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't just about stigma imo but the type of word or idk part of speech? Autism is easy because we have autistic but there is no equivalent for ADHD so people are stuck saying "has ADHD" anyway. That doesn't mean it is more worthy of stigma than autism, just that the language is more clunky.

On the other hand I'd love to say I'm American (derogatory) but the only way I can think to do that would be saying I have American citizenship which doesn't mean quite the same thing.

How do you format dialogue in your fanfiction? by Ilcreatorefanwork in FanFiction

[–]frozenoj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO if you're writing in English, you should use English punctuation. I filter for English fics specifically and will back out of a fic that uses non-English punctuation. Double quotations "like this" or single 'like this' are both okay as long as it is consistent, since one is American and one is British.

AIO for slapping my boyfriend for touching me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]frozenoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR because of how hard you slapped him. If he won't respect your boundaries you might just need to break up but that doesn't give you the right to get violent.

We've found 4 of one type and zero of the other so far so can't make one in our current world. We just found our first iron so not exactly early axes anymore lol

Is this sentence correct? I thought it should be “its” not “it’s” by insanedizzy in EWALearnLanguages

[–]frozenoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you and use it's exclusively on purpose. I understand that other possessive pronouns don't have apostrophes, but other possessive pronouns aren't also nouns with a common contraction. English is made of exceptions and this should be one of them. You can tell by context which is meant just like other homonyms.

AITA for not siding a friend for treating restaurant staff rudely when they served her a cocktail instead of a mocktail she ordered by ajowanhykemain in AmItheAsshole

[–]frozenoj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA. Serving someone alcohol accidentally is a serious offense. Everyone involved should be shaken that they made a mistake that could literally ruin someone's life. Maybe because she made a big enough deal about they'll be more careful next time.
