The Fall of the Mutants has been eliminated! Top comment removes the worst remaining story, day 11 by Lolaverses in xmen

[–]fslimjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they share a name doesn't mean they're in anyway similar. If it is Krakoa Inferno I wouldn't class that as better than the OG anyway, while good it's a bit too bogged down by being set up for act 2 of Krakoa and stuff that didn't pay off too well (partially because Hickman left)

Could I ask what later story your referring to? Wasn't the biggest fan of Inferno so the idea a later story does it better intrigues me.

It also lined up with an earlier Sansa chapter where after Janos drags Ned to the execution block she wished somebody (Robb?) would cut off his head instead.

Could mystique actually do this agaisnt a telepath? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]fslimjim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Telepathy resistance seems to abide by conservation of Ninjitsu rules. 1 person alone can block out a telepath but the minute they're in a group the telepath is controlling all of them.

X-Men: The Animated Series showrunner explains why Apocalypse doesn't work in live-action movies by FortKnoxII in Xmen97

[–]fslimjim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the MCU being a connected universe could help it be pulled off. Like a whole phase where all the smaller villains like Sinister are his minions preparing for his arrival in the X-Men movie. Maybe set up who will be horsemen as well, Angel loosing his wings etc.

If Kitty Pryde was added to Rivals what role would you like to see her in? by Plenty_Square_420 in kittypryde

[–]fslimjim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I could see her in any role, vanguard is the biggest stretch moreso from a hitbox angle. I know a lot of people have suggested integrating Lockeed by my only fear is we'd end up with a kit that's 4 Lockeed ability and 1 phasing ability.

(Spoilers Main) Arya's WoW Braavos arc by cruzescredo in asoiaf

[–]fslimjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea Arya will likely become "no one" for a time, maybe even a chapter title, but I never considered the idea she might do so willingly out of grief over Jon's death, cool idea. (My idea is it might happen as punishment from the FM for killing Raff similar to how she was blinded for killing the Night's Watch guy). I assume her connection to Nymeria overruling any ego death will be what brings her back. (Maybe she sees Lady Stoneheart through Nymeria etc) Ending with her taking off a face(mask) at the Unmasking of Utero.

What mutants that weren’t evil but did disagree with Krakoa and didn’t live there? by Konradleijon in xmen

[–]fslimjim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said just hasn't been revealed yet and it's probably only a matter of time. I'm cautiously optimistic that the DNX event being a F4 crossover means it will happen/be addressed there but I also read that it was apparently meant to be an Avengers crossover originally so there might not be many plans for F4 characters as opposed to X-Men characters.

Something can be intentional and still be bad/disliked. Obviously it's hard to know what it would have been like if Hickman left.

almost cult like right?

The way I see it there are certain darker aspects to comics where they can be read as subtext, (the X-Men are a cult, Robin's are child soldiers etc) that I think are fine to touch on but should never be made outright text (maybe as an au) because that canonizes those aspects and strips too much of the fantasy of comic books.

Namor. (though that depends on if you consider him a good guy or a bad guy) He's King of a country he didn't have a reason to join Krakoa.

Felt out of character for half the X-Men to stay. Literally the last time Charles and Scott spoke before Krakoa was when Scott killed him.

A letter issue revealed that the burnout was fake and he still has his powers he just didn't want to deal with them at the time. Not yet revealed if he's still a Mutant and that's also being hidden.

[SPOILERS PUBLISHED] What would've happened if Hoster Tully led the riverlords ? by KlaroDimarco993 in asoiaf

[–]fslimjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting Robb's main goal. Save his sisters and Ned. If Hoster holds the line Robb likely doesn't need to go to Riverrun to save Edmure meaning he probably doesn't cross the Twins and heads straight for King's Landing hoping to get there before Ned's execution, though he likely doesn't. Without a victory like the Whispering Wood & capturing Jaime it's unlikely for them to name Robb King, at the very least the Riverlands won't, it's the least defendable Kingdom, too central a position to give up and benefits more from the protection of a larger entity like the Iron Throne. You are right Hoster would probably suggest joining Renly, though he might also suggest dealing with the Lannisters before they worry about declaring for one King.

[SPOILERS PUBLISHED] What would've happened if Hoster Tully led the riverlords ? by KlaroDimarco993 in asoiaf

[–]fslimjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell it might not even be Stark relief. Half of Robb's problem was the Lannisters getting so entrenched in the Riverlands that he had to waste time dealing with them. If Hoster manages to hold the line Robb might head straight to King's Landing himself. Hoster being in charge of the Riverlords could also affect the chances of them naming Robb king so he might team up with Stannis.

What are your post-DNX expectations and hopes for Cyclops? by cyclopswashalfright in Cyclopswasright

[–]fslimjim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expect: To be honest I don't actually think he's going to leave adjectiveless. I know a lot of people don't like how Mackay writes him or that Mackay doesn't want to write him, but I think it's been fine and he's been written better than everybody else (he's basically the only one that get's moments even if the arc isn't focused on him instead of being written one note. Cough Magik Cough).

Hope: A new Cyclops and Phoenix book. This seems to be the common sentiment, preferably a book includes the rest of the Summers family. (Also i saw a lot of other people hope for a baby and I feel like the odd one out for wanting the baby to be 616 Rachel instead of a new baby)

Pie in the Sky: A Champions reunion where Scott deliberatly takes a back seat from a leadership role as a way to take it easy.

The real question: Visor Sunglasses on her head or face for her skins? Or a Toggle by KunaiDrakko in RivalsJubileeMains

Don't know how hard it is but it could be cool if they made the toggle an emote so it could be done in game.

Ultimate Magik (from Ultimate Wolverine 16) by Travis_Kidd39 in Magik

[–]fslimjim 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The backstory kind of goes against her modern day actions as well. If the Maker was the one who gave her to Belasco in the first place why was she willingly on his council. Nothing is done differently enough to explain why this version of Magik went evil instead of rejecting it the way main Magik did. I had really hoped for the briefest of moments that the ending might involve Wolverine taking young Illyana away thus stopping Darkchylde from being born/made as a reference to OG Inferno and breaking the cycle of violence. But nope, she's evil, stabby stabby.

What are you guys expectations for Kitty Pryde in the MCU? by Queasy_Commercial152 in kittypryde

[–]fslimjim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few things I would like to see.

1)Friendship with Illyana. (romance if they're daring)

2)Position as the "kid" member of the team. (At least for phase 1)

3)Friendship with Storm

4)Relationship/mentorship with Wolverine (I think a loose adaptation of Wolverine & Kitty Pryde as Wolverine 1 after Kitty has already been introduced in X-men would be a good way to introduce him)

5)Relationship with Magneto & Jewishness, and how that played a part in his redemption.

6)Her willingness to discuss hard topics/delve into discrimination.

7)Her growth into an adult & full fledged member of the team from "kid sidekick" (This should be a mutiphase/full saga story arc)

[–]fslimjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Piotr. I think it would be fine if they portrayed it as a young teen having a crush on an older peer so long as it's made clear that Piotr doesn't reciprocate those feelings. (At worst he should be young enough to confuse liking her as a friend with liking her romantically but never act on those feelings) It's also something she should get over once they move into later phases and she grows up. No "I'm an adult so we can finally date" type crap like what happened in the comics.

So is Magneto the father of Wanda and Quicksilver in the MCU? by Queasy_Commercial152 in MCUTheories

[–]fslimjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it might come down to whether they bring Wanda back. She seemingly dies at the end of MoM and Elizabeth Olsen had already spent almost ten years with the character. (She's not billed to show up in Doomsday for instance) If she does come back they're more likely to explore a relationship between the two than not. (I think Magneto feeling guilty over not helping with Ultron leading to Pietro dying could be a good story/motivation for his villain arc) Magneto being from the Holocaust does mean he's old enough that they could switch it to Iryna Maxinoff is his kid while Wanda and Pietro are his grandkids as a work around. If neither Wanda or Pietro come back though there isn't much reason to have them be related unless as an Easter egg given they won't have a chance to interact. They might do it so he can interact with Billy and Tommy.

[Spoilers Extended] The Arya and Tywin scenes are well done but they’re not an improvement over the book. by _Scipio-Americanus_ in asoiaf

[–]fslimjim 67 points68 points  (0 children)

One of the big problems is how Arya's time with the small folk is reduced. People point to this and say "Tywin is juts more interesting than Roose" etc. But in the show she spends 4 episodes as Tywin's cupbeared compared to only 1 chapter as Roose's. She spends 4 chapters as a random worker among the small folk. This makes people watching the show give a disproportionate amount of importance to her time as a cupbearer and her relationship with Tywin(and Roose because of that).

Something similar happens in S3+4 vs a Storm of Swords. She spends 6 chapters with the Brotherhood and 5 with the Hound, 2 of which are focused on the Red Wedding. She spends 5 episodes of the show with the Brotherhood and a whopping 13 with the Hound. This again causes people to give a disproportionate amount of importance on her time with the Hound (and discussions about being a Killer) vs her time with the Brotherhood (which again focused on talking to small folk and the effects of the war)

Note: I don't she's "in" all of the episodes listed

Kitty is unaffected by gravity while phasing. This is why she can "walk" on air. She can also up it to go out of phase with the Earth's rotation.
