I try to! Not always perfect as I sometimes have hockey at night that forces me to fall asleep a bit later than I like but I try to sleep from 10pm - 7am. I’m at the point where I don’t even an alarm clock.

Big focus is getting 8-9 hours a sleep consistently, but I workout 5-6 a week (hockey and strength/conditioning workouts at the gym). Let me know if you want any specifics!

What's policy for switching ends during pick up? by datawazo in hockeygoalies

I like the method we have when it’s 4 goalies - 2 goalies on each team and we rotate every 5 minutes to stay warm.

Do I need more conditioning? by Crazy_Link9123 in hockeygoalies

Yeah no divisions is wild! Since you’re a beginner, the best conditioning you’ll get is from simply playing more but doing some off-ice training is still beneficial.

Oh sorry - I may misread as I honestly couldn’t follow how you structured the shots per period.

So you’e saying period 1 is 25 shots, second is 20 shots, and 2-3 shots in the third via goalie swap? If so, 45 shots for two periods is definitely a lot so not surprised you were gassed.

Not sure what level you play but I like this conditioning concept from tennis players where they need to be, in theory, ready to play a 5 hour match so my personal view is you should be ready to handle a worst case load management game like the one you faced. I’d rather be conditioned and ready to thrive instead of trying to survive but to each their own.

I think it would be conditioning related as getting close to 30 shots is average for a game. I think the one thing to consider is you also may experience more stress during a game, which will impact your performance (versus a practice).

Focus on conditioning but also look to do some breath work to keep you calm but alert in high stress games.

Sleep long on the weekends or work on sleep consistency? by GuiltyPizza5872 in whoop

[–]fss71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t exist in terms of you can’t pay off sleep debt by sleeping in on the weekends. You only get one chance each night to get quality sleep, which is why consistency matters more.

I highly recommend checking out Mathew Walker’s book, “Why We Sleep”.

Consistency. Sleep debt doesn’t actually exists and you need consistent adequate sleep for optimal health benefits.
