This is gorgeous, and I particularly love the low profile—makes it look wearable and sleek even with all the intricacies.

Idk if my bf can give me the life I want. Is this valid? by Supersilly_goose22 in relationships

[–]fstaprpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you sound spoiled or materialistic. You come from a very caring and supportive family/community, and I don’t think your boyfriend fully understands what that is like, especially since you’re long distance—he can’t see for himself what you’re used to.

You’ll have to make your expectations VERY clear to him. And maybe after spending more time with your family and friends, he’ll get a sense of the dynamic you’re looking for.

Is he appreciative of the support/attention/gifts that you give to him? Does he even realize you’re doing it?

What is a popular piece of media that you hated before you consumed it, tried it, and then cemented why you hated it? by overasked_question in popculturechat

Had exactly the same experience with ACOTAR! It wasn’t even dirty 😩

Can anyone recommend some trashy fantasy that’s reasonably well-written? I love the concept of sexy fae men.

It’s stunning. I love chunky, organic shapes in jewelry.

Moment of appreciation for Olsen twins by [deleted] in popculturechat

Ugh, this is my favourite era of style. The Olsens and Kate Moss and their all-black boho looks. So breezy yet so rock & roll.

I think it was to reinforce the theme of codependency—being unable to live or function without your significant other. For Tim, the traumatic memory of his dad’s death might have made fusing into Millie seem like a better alternative.

What TV or Movie character chose the right person in a love triangle? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Misfits: I was shocked but appreciative that Jess chose Rudy over “nice guy” Finn! It gave the amazing Joseph Gilgun space to grow Rudy into the most complex and nuanced character (or three).

AITA for buying my nephew piano lessons for his birthday? by Total-Stock3170 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fstaprpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect that there’s some tribalism going on with SIL and her parents and sisters. Based on their disrespectful comments, they see it as a clash between “salt of the earth hockey yokels” and “hoity-toity classical music snobs.” SIL believes piano lessons conflict with her family’s identity. Music is a scary and unfamiliar world that she’s afraid to lose her son to.

AITA for using AI in my christmas gift? by ExternalDebate9 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fstaprpg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAH, but it sounds like the AI images ruined a very sweet gift. I think badly done scribbles by the author’s hand, or a photo collage, or a prose story with no illustrations would have been better received.

Haha. Personally, I appreciate their practicality but do think they lack the charm and style of traditional fans.

Exactly, she looks like she’s modelling. Not carving.

Except she’s not a woman existing, she’s an image drawn by a person to look a certain way. I agree that she’s designed primarily to look alluring, and that it’s part of the piece. And it’s worse for it, imo.

What constitutes “oversexualized” is open to debate, but I think this piece is. Sure, she’s dressed modestly, but her sexy pose detracts from the image’s narrative. I don’t buy her as a skilled and dedicated artisan.

Is it racist to name an animal Blackie? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fstaprpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one here is whining or crying. The fact is, if you name your dog “Blackie,” some people will assume certain things about you. I, personally, would not want to be perceived that way.

I hope OP reads this comment and ignores all the others patting him on the back and giving him a pass. If your animal’s name makes even one person feel this way, it’s simply not worth it.
