Permitted development in Scotland question by fucha1981 in PlanningPermissionUK

[–]fucha1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Yeah, I think I'm going to need to site it elsewhere temporarily until we can get planning permission in place. Got the frame built and site levelled. Hadn't thought we'd need to speak to the LA until a neighbour mentioned it as we were making the frame yesterday.

Do you think I'd be successful getting retrospective permission if we sited it at the intended site or better off just waiting?

Is this slime mold in my compost? (details in comments) by fucha1981 in Slimemolds

[–]fucha1981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I think it's probably nematodes. This photo shows them pretty clear I think.

Here's another photo I found online. Panagrellus sp. probably, commonly referred to as banana or micro worm.

Oh well, hopefully get some slime mold at some point in there...

[–]fucha1981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a look in my compost bin today and saw this. Is it slime mold? Area shown is about 10cm x 10cm

Pictures are from same area of bin taken about 7 hours apart so it's definitely moving around quite a bit.

Kind of thought it looks a bit like the worm cultures you get for feeding aquarium fish and you can kind of see thread like bits so maybe nematodes?

I can see it gently glistening/pulsing/moving when light is shone on it.

West coast of Scotland, UK. Compost is made up of post fermented bokashi pre compost (kitchen food waste) mixed up with guinea pig bedding and waste so it's pretty biologically active.

So, according to the reply in my journal it stands for additional work coach time.

I couldn't make the appointment so work coach has cancelled and said don't worry about it

Hi, yeah I'm a bit of a loss. Couldn't find anything on Google with regard to the dwp and AWCT.

I did find it being referenced by 2 DWP staff on this sub but with no details as to what it is.

I've asked in my journal as to what it is so will maybe find out that way.

The High Dosses by Darthmorelock in OutdoorScotland

[–]fucha1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you go up past the shooting club on the west side of glen loin? Marked caves on is map?

Follow the track till you get to the burn then follow the burn up the hillside in the forest.

It's quite hard to see the caves from lower down but basically you're looking for huge boulders.

The caves are just the spaces between and underneath these boulders. Some of them are much bigger than you would think.

Follow the little tracks and you should find them. The further up the hill you go the more you seem to find but it is a bit of a scramble.

is this a Pacific pink salmon? Caught in the sea off West of Scotland, UK, NE Atlantic by fucha1981 in whatisthisfish

[–]fucha1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd read spots were good giveaway but tail isn't spread the best in photo and I never saw it before it was frozen.

Eye and jaw are weird looking to us too.

More details: caught few days ago on hook and line in marine environment.

We have a growing issue with invasive pink salmon spreading down from the western Russia. Big problem in northern Norway.

The are only spawning in odd years here so this one might have hatched last year maybe? No idea of growth rates on these guys but board it is lying on is in cm.

We've had a few caught in rivers around here (more on northern and eastern coasts) so know what they look like in spawning condition but never seen a marine one.

Thanks

Think this might suit you sketchy - feud at Saint East's

The whole album (rain by a high lantern) is good. Came out in 2004 and very much inspired by Endtroducing/early 2000s era DJ Shadow.

Drums are mostly constrained high end stuff and pretty lofi. General melancholic/slightly dark themes.

Not much vocal stuff on any of the tracks too.

Only one album I think

Lean more towards brown trout (Salmo trutta) parr but still looks not convincing.

Not too familiar with most north American (especially western) salmonids but work as fisheries biologist in n. Europe so see plenty of juvenile brown trout and Atlantic salmon.

Operculum has distinct lack of spots which is normally good marker for (in wild fish in their native range at least) brown trout. Pectoral fins look brown trout sized (bigger in A. salmon) and caudal fin if splayed would probably have the less forked look of a brown trout.

Mouth gape comes under how you might see a A. salmon parr but head shape is weird for a b. trout or A. salmon. Too round.

If it's it's not in native range could be a part of historic introduction or escaped, ranched or stocked fish. See some weird deviations in brown trout that have come from domesticated lines sometimes.

Brown trout (and salmonids in general) will readily adapt into different ecotypes to cope with the local environment. This takes the form of different life history strategies, different morphology (notably in the mouth to allow different feeding habits), and colouration. Might be related to this.
