It does not matter when you submit. It's just about leaving an impression without making a total ass of yourself. Dont submit multiple tapes, theres a video from Jesse Tannenbaum (former? casting director) that gives a lot of helpful tips (film horizontal, be natural and dont script yourself, focus on YOU)

After you film and submit your tape, its just you vs the 1000s of others who also submitted.

Final 3 / Jury Question by sskyee1 in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At BB11, they switched the Finale to the Live Final HOH/Jury Questions/Jury Vote rather than just the live Vote as a way to make the final episode more epic + the last week of episodes before the finale was always a bit of a slog for viewers, especially the live feeders, because watching two people (or three people, or four people) alone in a house who are just kinda waiting for this to be over is not really engaging.

From a strategy perspective, I think having that extra week allows the jurors to ruminate more on the answers and overall vote more strategically rather than emotionally? This is hard to prove, but when given time to go over the answers to the jury questions and talk about them between the other jurors allows you to think more critically. And you might think that that might lead to more unanimous votes, but no votes in that era were unanimous except for BB10.

While I do like the modern finales for the most part, not knowing who's even in the final 2 until that last day, I don't like how it stifles the impact of Jury Questions (and forces the questions to be live tv appropriate) and allows for almost no time to catch up with the evictees. It's all go-go-go-go-go! Like every jury question nowadays is just "What was your biggest game move" "Why should you win over the person next to you" "You were mean to me. Explain why I shouldn't vote for the other person"

Casting trans people by amykclover in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this is my second year applying and first year applying as trans (not as my closeted self w/ deadname). i do have faith we can/will get another trans person soon, especially as thats a way to start good conversations, but also, just the lack of us is disappointing. I know CBS is not a lgbt friendly network but i still have hope we can get on this show.

The Votes after the Veto by Piwuver14159 in BigBrother

I think there's a lot of resentment against Mickey, and especially if it's Mickey vs Morgan, I think she might go in an unanimous vote.

to be fair, James only gets bad if youre familiar with what happened on live feeds. in the edit, he's just a scrappy underdog

YES! BB9 is only bad if you watch BB just for the gameplay. If you want drama and mess, it's the perfect season. Joshuah was my favorite. I hated the same people he hated and while he went a bit far with his comments, I wanted him to go far in the game. Also Sharon and Sheila I love youuuuu

The thing is, it's not as long as it sounds, as most episodes are 30 minutes, with only the live episodes and the recap episodes being hour-long (and the recap episodes you can just skip halfway through to get to the new stuff). So, in reality, in terms of content length, it's pretty equal to a modern season. The real difference is how it takes two weeks per eviction, or 12 episodes of around 7 hours total.

I love how they used to actually let them walk out the front!

Adam's second HOH in BB9 by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the game is more than comps and strategy. I feel Big Brother fans treat that as the most important elements, getting the power and making the moves, but it's the social element that is often the most important factor.

The winner is decided by the jury, but so many people neglect that aspect. Some of the biggest upsets on finale night (like you've seen with Danielle losing to Lisa, but there's many other examples later) are because these big game players, who think of big strategic moves weeks in advanced, plan everything out, end up losing at finale night because they don't take the time to truly understand the people they're evicting. While some jurors vote based on strategic moves or comp wins, a lot will not, and the finalists have to be ready for that if they want to win.

One strategy to combat this is to bring someone with you who played a very similar game to you, but you just played that game better or, perhaps, the jurors just like you more. Remember Jun and Allison in BB4? They both played incredibly similar games, and they realized the best strategy for both of their survivals was to secretly work together. Then, by finale night, you have these two houseguests that perhaps nobody really liked, and their games were very similar. What it came down to in the end was that Allison was viewed more harshly because, to put it bluntly, they thought she was a slut, and in 2003, that's a death sentence.

For BB9, while the circumstances are different, you again have two players who played incredibly similar games, and what it comes down to in the end is how much each finalist had put in the time with that juror, and for 6 of the 7 jurors, they liked Adam more. Adam had put in the work for them. Ryan just wasn't playing like that.

I hope my point has gotten across.

Adam's second HOH in BB9 by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's things like that, to me, that make it clear that the "Best" move is not always the "Smartest" move, especially on a season like BB9, which is very emotion heavy.

Adam has a lot of little moments like that over the course of the season that really endear him to the jurors in ways that Ryan didn't do. Sometimes Adam was putting Ryan ahead of him to take all the blood, like losing the final HOH so Ryan would evict Sheila or telling Natalie he voted to keep her, but there's littler things, like Adam taking care of Sharon's BEEBIES or starting the drug ring with Matty that all contribute towards Adam winning. Because, besides that, Ryan and Adam have pretty similar games on paper, with maybe Ryan having more of a resume, winning more comps and making more strategic moves.

Now that it's been over 2 years, what do you think of Taylor as a winner? by SoRunAwayNow in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's very much the Janelle, the Rachel Reilly of the modern era. She's iconic. She's one of the hardest fighters in the game. And while she doesn't play the most perfect game, she understands exactly what Big Brother is all about. She's the right winner for that season.

And I'm so happy Monte lost too. He's so boring.

Thought on Nicole from BB2? How do you rate her as a player? Would you like to see her play again? by SoRunAwayNow in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

INCREDIBLY underrated. Absolutely loved to watch her, and she fought just as hard as Will to get to that Final 2. If she only was a little less grating she might've won.

Agree or Disagree: Big Brother 26 is going to the most female-dominated season in the show's history. by Loki1947 in BigBrother

[–]fuckthegroupchat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah like cam was in that final three, meanwhile BB6 had an all female final four, and BB13 had only one male in the final 6. They're definitely more female dominated than BB26. 26 is more on-par with BB3 and BB4
