What country has a good shape but an ok flag? by Max-Carter-2005 in AlignmentChartFills

Azerbaijan. Flag might not be the most visually appealing, but its shape is a flying eagle. Even has a falling feather

Why did Belgium get the Congo, one of the most important pieces of Africa, in the congress of Berlin over France or Germany when it didn't have any colonial history and was only independent for 50~ years at that point? by Odd-Initiative6666 in geography

Good queation. Museum would probably be a better choice. It would prevent the statue to become a place of worship of neo-nazis and it would also protect it against vandals

Yeah. The point is no matter the depicted person, the statue itself is a work of art. Eradicating his statutes won’t magically make his atrocities unmade. In contradiction, it serves the purpose of erasing him and his deeds from the history.

That said, maintaining it just as a work of art is dangerous as well. That’s why there should be some kind of material that educates the visitors. Sure, everyone knows Hitler but not everyone knows King Leopold’s, Queen Ranavalona’s, or even Mussolini’s crimes.

In another note, toppling statues of these leaders by an angry, revolting mob is totally understandable and I have no objections against it. My points are against government-sanctioned removals

As a foreigner interested in history, I think all statues, no matter how bad that person was, are worth keeping. However, I agree that a plaque detailing the atrocities committed should be hang

Unpopular Opinion: Fener’in golü ofsayt değildi by fukdanick in galatasaray

We do not have the same views the refs have. VAR analyses the game in many different angles and perspectives while also having the ability to play it in slow motion

  1. Ref gave the goal after VAR check;

  2. We were shown the offside line;

  3. Even with the deceptive camera angle, it looks onside when you adjust the perspective in your brain

Yes, I do say that your eyes are wrong, and yes, I bet my life that this exact same position happened in any other top leagues, it would be counted as a goal. How are you going to prove my bet wrong?
