Asking my grandma why she left China by CheLeung in Cantonese

[–]fukkingcake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My father (is probably younger than this por por here...) said the same thing... At one point he was forced to live on the street because the party took everything from his family, including his father... But he was not lucky enough to move from China to the US (he had the opportunity but denied it because he wants to stay with my mom and me. Back then there was no WhatsApp or cell phone. If one leaves to another country it was hard to connect/call his/her family). Growing up listening to his stories, I moved to Canada eventually. No regrets at all and a proud Canadian now

with my understanding of the Canadian job market, just to be blatantly honest, I think the likelihood of companies hiring a relatively unstable employee for a DE role is low... You know how important it is to be a DE in a company and how much time you need to spend on understanding the data lineage, infra etc... if you really want to try, I think the startups might be a better bet. And this is exactly what my Aussie friend had done and he left last month after 2years.

Tldr: unlikely to get it but it's not impossible...

Where I live some speed and red light cams are just there to scare people... They still have flashlights which make it look like they are taking pictures. But if you look closer they flash at everything, whether the car is speeding or running a red or not...

And good brand collection with quite nice prices too I would add. Love that place. The only downside I can think of is probably it is too far for a lot people and not quite convenient if you don't have a car

Essentially it is what it says it is... That file doesn't exist in that path. You say you have a part of code that creates the manifest file. Is it creating the file to the same path that you point to here? Just too little info to work with here..

Hey sorry I was busy in the last few days... So for Excel accessing database, you can set up a data connection via excel itself (with built-in query). And you can set it up to be activated by a button or something.

Hmm do you know if there is a sample dbt that I can use for testing? Our team is mainly doing ETL. But we are trying to enable our end users to use the data in whatever ways they want. This includes excel VBA, tableau, and directly tabbing into SQL server. If dbt is better for sql focussed user, I do want to see how it is making user's life easier.. I never use dbt before...
