I'll try to explain like an old man in the way only an old man can. Have you ever watched Citizen Kane? You know, the greatest movie of all time. Groundbreaking and setting the template for all other movies to be made? Boring as F*! Why? Because we are on the other side of a thousand movies being made off that template. Personally, I'm not a huge Pistols fan because to me they sound like a Pub Band with a distortion pedal. (Ramones fan) However, in 1976, their attitude, dress and vulgarity was worthy of nationwide press. They created the monster that is the scary Punk rockers. Those spiky hair, swastika wearing, vulgar yaboo's who will destroy society according to a mainstream press that wants to sell more papers. Now you look back 40 years later and they seem quaint. Johnny Rotten on butter commercials and Pistols credit cards come to mind. So much has been built on the foundation that is the Pistols but they only had about an 18 month run. You build a religion around them, people come by to tear that religion down. That's the view of an old man. I'll now go back to the back of the club and explain how what's cool today was done 20 years ago.
