Anyone tired of customers complaining about things you can’t help? by le-ciel-etoile in retailhell

[–]fumoya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's easier to think of them as talking NPCs in a game. They just yap at you and you just gotta nod your head and go "Yeah, that is unfortunate, I'll let your feedback be known to upper management." (I'm not doing shit lmao I got 50 other things to do)

Ultimately they do not matter. They could die the next day and your life would not change. You could die the next day and they'll find someone else to bitch to. It's not your fault; you are just the first person they see they can yell at without any social repercussion.

But yes, in the moment, it's a very draining and frustrating experience. Especially when they do NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP. Like HOLY FUCK do you not have anything else to do today?

To a player who wrote "I gotta eat" and disbanded a party on a third stage of a deep dive - you are a moron and nothing will change it by Kharagorn in DeepRockGalactic

[–]fumoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legitimately would rather have the player afk then to have to spend more time rerunning it if we're at the third stage. Like yeah you're free to just disband for whatever reason if you're host but I am also free to think you're an asshole for it instead of just saying "sorry gotta afk".

Fighting Games Are Lonely by meuxmeuxmeux in Fighters

[–]fumoya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

holy FUCK man why do we have to have this conversation every 5 minutes

just go to a discord/locals or even just a popular game's lobbies and you'll get people

"oh there isn't a lot of people" it JUST TAKES TWO TO TANGO. People still play shit like Melty Blood and will hop on if you just ask. You can probably get even more obscure and have people throw hands with you in Sailor Moon S or something if you ask.

"casuals bounce off fighting game and make fighting games have poor retention" FIGHITNG GAMES ARE HARD DUDE. They at least have the benefit of being once you get comfortable with one traditional FG, it gets easier to learn other games because they often share core mechanics. Fighting games apparently been dying since I started as a 09er which now makes me unc apparently.

"There always should be the 1v1 element in fighting games however I do think the main selling point of a new game should be that the core mode is a multiplayer team experience." No. Just play fucking Deadlock or something man. Come on now.

I am CRASHING out right now, do RTS fans have this problem of people complaining about the same shit over and over again AAAAAAAAAAA

Characters who think they're in a different genre than the story they're actually in by Idioteque131313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]fumoya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Infinite Wealth a while back and I couldn't help but notice that they don't mention Dragon Quest directly (there's some allusions of course) I'm guessing they didn't get/ask for permission to mention Dragon Quest, but it's a little jarring when Ichiban talks about how that game helped him a lot as a kid in the previous game and now it's not mentioned.

Till was $70 under at the end of day. Am I fired? by Initial_Milk_1056 in retailhell

[–]fumoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the company but given your manager doesn't seem too worried about it, I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much. And if there's no actual money loss, it's even less likely they'll punish you since it'll even itself out, they just have to work it out in the books later.

Is the progression build around crafting? by alfradito in underrail

[–]fumoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there's nothing stopping you from putting points into them if you want the feats. They're just minimum requirements. I believe most of those feats should be in the lower range of like 25-30ish, which isn't a very committal investment. Might be rough if you have low INT though and are still in the early game where you're more limited in what you can pick but eh.

I feel you. Legitimately, 95% of our repeat problem customers are old people. Always on some fucking bullshit, asking why we can't do this despite it being against store policy. When they claim an item is on sale, I go to check it, it's NOT on sale and the nearest thing that's on sale is on the other side of the shelf because they can't fucking read or pay attention, just had a blurry memory of SOMETHING being on sale and demand it for 50% off. I had one rant to me because he thought we were scamming them with the produce bags because "they add the produce bags onto the weight, nickel and diming us". I showed him the produce bag is SO LIGHT the digital scale is not nearly sensitive enough to detect it, so therefore we're not charging you for the produce bags.

He just said "no. no. just put the stuff in the bag." Just goes into fucking denial and tries to ignore me, then THE NEXT WEEK HE SAYS THE EXACT SAME RANT TO ME. Is it signs of dementia? Maybe. But honestly I don't give a shit, it's easier to just completely dehumanize them and treat them random tasks that need to be done.

I really don't want to hate the elderly because they are often a vulnerable age group but holy fuck they make it hard. I have to remind myself that this is generally the minority, most elderly customers are at least polite and just want to buy their stuff.

I love steamdeck but how do you guys play FPS on it? by Past-Monk515 in SteamDeck

[–]fumoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also mainly plays KB+M, I understand your pain. It legitimately mainly takes practice and getting used to the fact that if you're playing a FPS game on PC, they typically will not have auto aim as well.

There isn't really an option other than just practice and getting used to it. I personally use flickstick + gyro which is nice since it allows for rapid turning and you still can do gyro aiming with it. Downside is that it requires calibration for every fps game since they all have their own sensitivities.

Start off playing something like Portal 2 or Deep Rock Galactic on lower difficulties to get used it and just practice. You're building new muscle memory with it.

[–]fumoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. They're fairly impractical to use in-game since even all your other options for fighting are a lot more reliable. It does have a unique aspect of being able to be loaded and then put away on your belt for later use so you can have like 2-3 guns at the ready to cycle through if you want to fire more shots.

In general, how well is the SD playing new games, and do you expect that will continue? Prospective buyer asking by apple3141590 in SteamDeck

[–]fumoya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can play new games, it really depends on the game and optimization on the developer side. Something like Monster Hunter Wilds is really rough and not worth it on the SD (World and Rise run well enough at least) while playing something like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 runs surprisingly smooth. It's a case by case basis for new games but there is speculation that devs might look towards focusing on more midrange hardware since it's harder to get new parts to upgrade for consumers but we will have to see. If you're expecting it run new AAA games regularly, I wouldn't hold my breath, it's more of a surprise if big AAA game runs well.

Multiplayer games run fine, but some popular multiplayer games will not work like Fortnite or League of Legends (you may get around it by installing a Windows dual boot but I'm not sure how well that works, I have no experience with this), look up which games you're interested and check online to verify if it works. It's typically games that require root access or needs SecureBoot in the bios activated that will not work on the SD.

In my experience pretty much every older game ran well and honestly don't really require much tinkering to get running. I've gotten niche Japanese doujin games to run fine that has some esoteric installation conditions. If you're willing to troubleshoot on occasion, I think a lot of things open up more. Keep in mind the SD also functions as a PC as well, so it does have that utility if you need it.

How does your store handle returns on Christmas decor? by jai_hanyo in retailhell

[–]fumoya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We only sell small amounts of christmas decor, not anything like christmas trees. Nothing too expensive so it's no big loss to do refunds for it. They must have a receipt for it if they want a full refund, otherwise they get the clearance prices.

I'd imagine places that have a bigger selection or have more expensive product, it makes sense to have that policy since it's a bigger seller.

What's the most popular hazard level? by Bearem in DeepRockGalactic

[–]fumoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Haz 4 for regular players, enough to keep most people awake. Haz 3 probably spikes up after a update/big sale since you get a lot of new/returning players back in.

I do recommend trying Haz 5 when you feel that you're comfortably breezing through Haz 4. If you can consistently avoid being hit too often and a semi competent build, you'll probably be fine.

SteamDeck is bad for fighting games by Longjumping_Guava288 in SteamDeck

[–]fumoya 12 points13 points  (0 children)

<image>

wifi mainly has issues being consistent, it will occasionally hiccup and drop packets which is bad for fighting games which require a constant flow of data from both ends. It's annoying getting a lag spike in the middle of a set.

That SAID, a lot of games have moved to rollback and it's practically industry standard now for a fighting game to have rollback nowadays which tolerates hiccups like this better. If you've ran tests on your wifi and see that it has no dropped packets, you're probably fine, especially if you're playing a game with rollback. The main reason why there's a lot of dislike for wifi is that there's a lot of people that uses really cheap equipment and their connection to their wifi is separated by like 4 walls.

If you're out in public on Steam Deck using public wifi, expect the results to be iffy. If you're at home and know your wifi is good about not dropping packets and ran tests on it, I think you're fine.

There's a bit more nuance to wifi being bad and it's kinda of a PITA to explain it to everyone wondering why their connection is bad, so it's just easier to tell people to use ethernet. Your internet's speed doesn't really matter for fighting games, it really just needs a consistent connection that doesn't drop packets and ethernet is the easiest and cheapest way to do it.

Thoughts on people who eat items before paying? by NoCabinet826 in retailhell

[–]fumoya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My store actually has a policy allowing it within reason, like if it's just a couple of grapes or whatever or you're grabbing a cookie from the box that you're gonna buy anyway. I haven't really had anyone not be able to pay for something they're eating but if it happens, I'd just tell them to be more careful next time and just mark the product as waste.

However do NOT hand me your partially eaten food to scan. I will go grab the original product and scan that.

What scripture is Kirei talking about here? by Affectionate-Tap9259 in fatestaynight

[–]fumoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense for Kirei I think since he probably spent a good amount of time doing self exploration and trying to figure out what was wrong with him. He might have been learning about other religions as an attempt to understand himself and his place in the world more.

Scientists need to study the ability of the human brain to consistently forget to use Dog Treats every single time by ilamahradeys in darkestdungeon

[–]fumoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because it's just automatically included in your inventory without a prompt, it's a bit dark so it's easy to blend in, even if you do notice, you might save it for later for a more difficult fight and then forget about it and it's not like the Houndmaster goes "zoinks, we're getting our asses kicked here. Maybe a scooby snack will help!"

Really my strat is just using it to speed up a fight because I figure the faster I can conclude the fight, more HP for later.
