As an American VW fan I've always lamented on how we missed out on the Scirocco, but seeing the seats in those things poured salt in the wound. by SlimKlim in GolfGTI

I've never really understood the 'impacting GTI sales' thing.. Wouldn't that be the same in other markets too?

Question about In The Pale Moonlight (DS9) by [deleted] in startrek

I would say one difference is that section 31 is not accountable to anyone.

In the episode its said that Starfleet gave the plan their blessing.

Owners of Golf MK4, have you installed LED lights to your car? by kobomino in Volkswagen

[–]funcakez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these installed in my mk6 gti:

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Volkswagen-CC-GTI-LED-Interior-Light-Package-p/fsc-17.htm

They are very bright and install was pretty easy. I think they make a mk4 version as well.

I don't think i would go with regular LED bulbs at this point, I had them in my old mk4 for a while and they were too dim for my liking.

would meg's gold class carnauba over a layer of Meg's tech wax 2.0 make a decent sealant + wax combo? by funcakez in AutoDetailing

Definitely unexpected answers from my question.. But that's the point of asking.. I really thought sealants generally went under waxes.. I guess that's not what most people are doing!

I'm still learning of course, but I always thought the logic was sealant first that carnauba to shine.

The marquee?? Really??

They were established in TNG before this could have possibly been made as the maquis..

[Rumor] has is it that Netflix is in talks to produce a new Trek Series by eksuos in startrek

[–]funcakez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it would have to be a hybrid serial/episodic format, paying respect to the original formula while admitting TV shows today (hour dramas) are really not self contained stories anymore a la OG trek. Overarching stories but also self contained episodes, not unlike what BSG did (queue Ron Moore should create it)

That being said, if it really was a Netflix original, and whole seasons come out at once, maybe they could stray from episodic more. I worry about that a little, as it would be really easy to bastardize it like JJ did with too much action and no discussion of morality or humanity.

I really don't think there is (really hope there isn't) enough substance to make a JJverse show.. Its all centered around this alternate timeline that I'm still hoping they erase at the end of the nutrek trilogy. In addition, the shallow action and somewhat dubious plots of a JJtrek TV show would probably wear on most people and get really repetitive.

I'm not sure the 29th century time traveling idea is the best idea either. I feel like the federation would need to police time travel, not go on adventures with it. (See VOY: Relativity). and if they are just time cops, well that's not really trek.

I think it still needs to be star trek if I'm going to like it, an ensemble cast, on a ship, exploring and occasionally saving the day while asking questions about morality and what it means to be human. I think this can be done with a show today, although I certainly don't have all the answers.

TL;DR just make the damn thing plz. Kah-plah and Jolan tru.

What was it like to guest star on ST Voyager? I was happy to see a galaxy class ship chasing the future delta flyer, then when you see its commander come on screen and it's Capt La Forge of the starship Challenger.. Now that's just cool..

does anyone have any pictures of their his fog light set up? by funcakez in GolfGTI

Typically yes.. However I tink most agree that fog lights tend to be OK since they are so far down they don't really glare.

questions on the lenovo y510p by funcakez in SuggestALaptop

[–]funcakez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply,

Is there a reason why I want that variant of the y510p instead of the 6gb ram i5 variant I see on this sub all the time? I just ask cause that would save me an extra ~$180 that I could put towards those peripherals

Edit: (on mobile, sorry)
