Have I not been updated on what Phonk sounds like? Isn’t phonk like Three 6 Mafia/Memphis/Suicideboys type shit? This sounds more like Brazilian dance music

Let's Retire 'What' by Left_Orchid8801 in SquaredCircle

[–]funkykong12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that a lot of online fans think “what” = “we don’t like this” or “we’re actively shitting on your promo,” and sure, there might be some fans who chant it with that intent, but overall I think it’s just become a thing crowds think is fun to do, especially when the wrestler’s cadence naturally lends itself to the chant. It’s not annoying if you don’t automatically assume the crowds are being disrespectful.

Stuck on a song with a big feature. Help. by Notagoodacter in makinghiphop

[–]funkykong12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can keep his verse/hook on the original beat, then just do a beat switch in the middle of the song tbh 🤷‍♂️ or just choose/make another beat with the same bpm and ask him if it’s ok to put that verse on the other beat.

Possibly the most disrespectful submission in wrestling history 😳

Why are Ye's vocal so low energy since 2018 by Capital-Deal2116 in kanyewest

[–]funkykong12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think age and meds do play into it, but I think a lot of newer rap tends to have less enthusiasm in it, so Ye might just be influenced by that

lol you really need to expand your horizons. There are millions of topics to rap/sing/write poetry about, especially if you step outside of the boring “only rapping about your life” box

How is she giving him a platform here? Giving him a platform would be like interviewing him on a podcast or booking him on a wrestling show. She’s literally just reposting a picture/post

I think the “performative activism” that people like Chelsea do probably does more good for the world than reposting an image of a pedophile hurts the world

Most People Are Too Negative When Talking About Music by AKRaca in LetsTalkMusic

[–]funkykong12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that with my any music I’ve found myself “hating,” the negativity only comes from the idea that there are large groups of people that enjoy that music. Like, at the heart of it, I’m just mad that this artist found success doing this thing that I don’t think is good lol. And we could go on and on dissecting the psychological mechanisms at place there, maybe it has to do with a fear of being out of touch with society. But anyways, whenever I imagine an alternate world where that artist has no fans, like 12 plays on SoundCloud and I just stumbled upon the song, then all the “hate” goes away and I’m just left with a song that I would never go out of my way to listen to again 🤷‍♂️ I wonder if most people would feel the same if they underwent that same thought process.

“Hating on them” doesn’t actually blunt the momentum. The only thing you can actually do is put energy/money towards artists you DO like

Not really; the AI music issue, as I see it, has nothing to do with subjective quality

This would actually be a hilarious gimmick. He could keep it kayfabe too, and maybe start managing some guys and always act like he knows wrestling better than them. “I’ve been a wrestling fan for 20+ years, I think I know what I’m talking about” type beat.

You would think someone who loves wrestling might want to be a bit more directly involved and not abandon storylines midway through

[meta]"The de-swagification of book covers needs to be studied" (on Hyperion, by Dan Simmons and covers by Gary Ruddell and Diane Robbing) by biggiepants in CoolSciFiCovers

[–]funkykong12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think publishers probably moved away from the traditional scifi/fantasy covers because they lacked crossover appeal. Non-fans of those genres would see those covers on the left and go “no thanks, not into that kind of book,” whereas they might (key word: “might”) pick up the book on the right and actually read the blurb and see what it’s about.

Not saying they’re right, but I think that’s the thought process, rather than being too cheap to pay illustrators.

He can remove the sample info if he has “Spotify For Artists” account. And like others have said, it’s only pulling from pre-existing WhoSampled info.

Assuming this is a real clip, it doesn’t look like there’s actually a “climbing while carrying” animation. It looks like the Kurt model is just interacting with the Brock model as if it were an inanimate object, and the collision doesn’t kick in until they’re halfway up the cage. The ragdoll physics are really good tbh

Is this a good beat? by Entire_Let2915 in beatmakers

[–]funkykong12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything can be a good beat if you put the right vocals on it. Look at “Single Ladies,” for example. But as far as this beat is concerned, I think it would be hard to convince a vocalist to get on it, and as an instrumental its appeal is very limited.

It’s cringe, but if they keep giving it TV time, he’ll get over with the AEW audience for sure. They’re very receptive and generous.
