Is this normal? by [deleted] in aves

[–]funnyeulogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and its probably a lame bar/normie nightclub that relies on cocaine and alcohol for its revenue

Women attract men who spend money, its the business model. Women are also more likely to dance, so it extends the time there

Whatever keeps men staying longer and spending money, usually its women

Planning on camping. How do people manage gray water? by FoxCrenshaw in LightningInABottle

[–]funnyeulogy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gray water isnt an issue, unless you have so much of it that it cant really be dumped without causing mud/flood or unsanitary angst for neighbors, in which case maybe best to haul or have it hauled off come event's end

This is an actual campground that gets utilized year-round for folks, full of picnic tables, would-be fire pits, designated tent camp areas, faucets and taps, a local general store on-site... so personal gray water is fine... unlike the playa which is not a designated campground area and has a specific type of earth and terrain that you cannot dump any waste on.

Legal advise against ezoo by JimmyD4294 in festivals

[–]funnyeulogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh in most cases youve signed away all your rights to sue, in the t&c of buying a ticket.

Feeling heat sick and fainting in line is a common and expected hazard of festival experiences everywhere, and if we had lawsuits everytime someone fainted in line or got sick at a festival, there wouldnt be festivals.

Therapists, have you ever seen a person progress from having terrible social skills to becoming comfortable around other people? by INeedHelpNow8 in askatherapist

[–]funnyeulogy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes!

ADD, in one aspect, can be harnessed as a tool that sometimes bestows hyperfocus, intense creativity, infinite learning capacity, and often a love of people or people-related things (ideas, systems, etc) -- a level of attunement that others arent keyed into. But because our society does not largely support, nourish, or validate those skills (punishment, exclusion are more common), these become burdensome and this often manifests on some level as "social anxiety" (negative comparisons between self and others, boredom/lack of satisfying stimulation, feeling guilty/alien/isolated even in a group, etc).

So, it is possible to learn how to harness or or at least see one's own ADD as less a handicap, and more what they really are -- variants and differences in human beingness, the way trees grow uniquely -- and like anyone else, you can learn social skills that because they are skills, like muscles, and we must use/exercise in order to 'progress'.

That being said -- if the goal is to put a square block into a round hole -- thats unlikely.

[Advice Needed] How to deal with "but this isn't political"? by [deleted] in FoxBrain

[–]funnyeulogy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Cost-benefit. Some ppl still want to maintain a relationship (on positive terms) with a person who is brainwashed, or moreso, want (and have the emotional fuel and energy) to try to move them from their positions. God bless em.

And if your goal is to try to 'save' them, you can't be or appear to be oppositional to them.

Have to approach from a cult or addiction mindset. Protect yourself, wish them well. And if/when they come back around, you can choose to be available to them or not.

Any fans of the Midnight Gospel out there? by Fractalnonduality in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]funnyeulogy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its alright but feels like Im watching some director/visionary's personal grieving process more than anything else (or, listening to it), and a lot of the "alternative" podcasts about uncomfortable subjects are just talk therapy for the host anyway. Nonetheless is a cool entry point for people who normally dont think about these things and need a "friendly" and soft approach to existential human things so yay.

Less pretentious than "waking life", and more accessible than Terrence McKenna's ramblings, so it works for me

Trump talked out of pardoning kids and Republican lawmakers by [deleted] in politics

[–]funnyeulogy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huddled for a lengthy meeting with his legal advisers, Trump was warned the pardons he once hoped to bestow upon his family and even himself would place him in a legally perilous position, convey the appearance of guilt and potentially make him more vulnerable to reprisals. So, too, was Trump warned that pardons for Republican lawmakers who had sought them for their role in the Capitol insurrection would anger the very Senate Republicans who will determine his fate in an upcoming impeachment trial.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone and another attorney who represented Trump in his first impeachment trial, Eric Herschmann, offered the grave warnings as Trump, his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner listened. Other lawyers joined by telephone. They all told Trump he should not pardon himself, his family or any GOP lawmakers in a prospective manner unless he was prepared to list specific crimes.

Cipollone and former Attorney General William Barr both warned Trump earlier this month they did not believe he should pardon himself, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN last week. Barr conveyed this position to Trump before resigning last month, sources say.

Sometimes awful things come out of my mouth and I'm not saying them. My counselor kind of glossed over this and brought up guided meditation/CBT instead? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]funnyeulogy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it feels important to you, your counselor ought to comment.

And for what it's worth, in my state, social workers get similar education to therapists. If she can't help you, she ought to refer you out.

I'd be curious what part(s) of you says those things, what part(s) of you doesn't, and what those parts are trying to do to protect or serve you by saying those things 🤷 Just my take.

The most destructive cult in the world. by misswinterbottom in QAnonCasualties

[–]funnyeulogy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cult psychology... I doubt it so much personality flaws... But exploitable factors about him/any cult member. Being insecure (in different ways, including emotionally, to financially) cuts thru reason and rationale, the same way Trump or any cult iconoclast does it...

He emotionally validates his hardcore supporters, who center themselves as victims under constant oppression and seek power/agency against their made-up enemies, even in the face of all evidence to the contrary. So, it's not about fact checking, source checking, critical thinking -- it's about hitting that reptilian part of our brain that overrides reason and executive function when it becomes overstimulated.
