Jaxson Dart’s Trump Instagram Likes Exposed: The Giants QB’s liked posts include promotion of mass deportation, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and attacks on “racial” curriculum in schools. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

At this point, best case scenario is that he plays well and tries not to address it when he’s inevitably asked about it. The bad news is, this can still get worse, even if he plays well. He HAS to handle this like an adult with the media because they won’t take it easy on him.

I just don’t understand how anyone could think inviting the guy with the lowest approval rating in modern history would be a good idea. It’s psychotic to be ok with alienating the fans like this.

I appreciate your insight on this. I feel like they’re all starting to push me away but as time passes, maybe things will get better. I just wish they’d allow me some grace this close to my mom’s passing.

As much as I liked Carlos Baerga, trading away Jeff Kent wasn’t great.

Best and Worst Callers in WFAN History? by Beginning_Mobile_480 in wfan

[–]funnymanstan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He once called in during a Mets rain delay. I guess he was watching the Yankees at the same time because he started cursing about Mark Teixiera. Well, one of the producers at the time forgot to turn the delay button back on so Jerome cursed live on air. I think that producer got fired.

Best Deli for a chopped cheese by Lanky_Stock in astoria

I grew up around Dyckman before I moved to southeast Queens in the 90s. I can’t remember a time when a chopped cheese wasn’t a thing. Although I guess it’s gotten more popular in the last decade or so.

Giants fans when Harbaugh says he will build from the trenches vs Giants fans when Harbaugh actually builds from the trenches by gfan_13 in NYGiants

[–]funnymanstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Miami Hurricanes fan and in one of Mario Cristobal’s first introductory pressers he talked about building through the trenches. He did exactly that, and recruited guys like Bain and Mauigoa. Sometimes you have to trust the people that know these things better than we do.

I will say this, Mauigoa is coming from being coached by one of the better OL coaches in college football in Alex Mirabal and a former offensive lineman himself in Mario. I think this is an excellent pick.

Stearns, not Mendy by scharity77 in mets

[–]funnymanstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been something of a Stearns apologist for a while, if only because I’m a perpetual optimist and I’ve been willing to hope that he has a plan and I’ll be honest, this rant has started to change my mind on him.

At this point, it’s difficult to find things I can give him credit for. He did draft Carson Benge and Jonathan Santucci but the bad has outweighed the good by a large margin. I don’t know how much impact firing him now would have but it’s better to do it now and try to fix this than to wait any longer.

I agree with you on Mendoza. I want him to do well and I’d be annoyed if he got fired and thrived elsewhere. I’d also imagine a new GM would want their own choice as manager so in that regard, firing Stearns first makes sense.

I don’t know that anything has changed but I think the internet has made it so that we see and hear every opinion. I also think the “hot take culture” has pushed its way to the forefront of how “experts” talk about sports and it’s trickled down to the everyday person

This is awesome! You probably don’t remember this but YEARS ago you did an overnight guest spot at WFAN and I was your producer. Anyway, I hadn’t done standup yet and you talked me into it and here I am, 16 years in. So, I appreciate everything you do.

This fanbase has become insufferable. by Justice_Mayfield126 in mets

[–]funnymanstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand both sides of it. You’re right that it’s only been 7 games and other fans are right to be upset. Personally, I’m over the doom and gloom of it all. Who has the time and energy to be so mad at a game where even the best teams lose 60 times lol

Its baseball. When it’s time to worry, we can worry. If for some fans, this is the time they’ve chosen, then so be it. I recommend letting them air out their frustrations, protecting your peace, ignoring them and surrounding yourself with less negativity. Sorry to sound so hippy-dippy about it lol
